Re: How often does your PT freeze?

No crashes here, haven't had one a long, long time. However, I get the "Video Engine is unable to create thumbnails" error 2-3 times a day.

Re: Minimize PT 11.2.1 = Game over

Try Alt + Tab to Pro Tools. Once tabbed to Pro Tools, if nothing pops up, use the shortcut to show/hide the mixer, which I believe is Ctrl + = on Windows. Hit it a couple times times and the edit...

Re: Backups

I believe what he is talking about is when Macrium prompts you to "Create Rescue Media" or something like that. IIRC it's to create a bootable CD/DVD/USB that you can boot from to restore images. I...

Re: Windows 7 to Win 8.1 is it worth it?

I ran friggin' PT9 on a W10 laptop without any issues, now it's up to 11.3.2 and still running fine. One nice thing about Windows is that it's much more forgiving with running older software...

Re: Standard for Color Coding Tracks?

I usually just color them in groups with no rhyme or reason. Except for my aux return effects, those always get colored that really bright purple-pink for some reason.

Re: Pro Tools 12.3 - more info

Just updated to 12 and did my first project on 12.3. Did sound design for a dance performance, worked to video, several virtual instruments, endless edits, and 28 minutes in length. In 20 or so hours...

Re: Import Audio Files problem!

I have not seen that particular error before, but I will ask, is the drive you are trying to import from formatted as FAT32 or exFAT? I've had multiple issues with trying to use drives formatted as...

Re: where is COPY AND RELINK?

Closing and reopening the session should always bring up the option panel for relinking the missing files, when PT sees that it is missing files. Is it not doing this for you?

Re: Calculate waveforms in workspace?

Are the files you are looking at in the workspace residing on a drive that is formatted FAT32 or exFAT? I've had waveform overview and workspace issues with drives formatted that way, both on Mac and...

Some of my most stable rigs have been on PC. I was PC for versions 7 through 9, and properly configured, I couldn't make those rigs crash if I tried. My PT8 rig was even on VISTA and it ran fine,...

Dang, bummer man. I'm out of ideas at this point, hopefully someone else with the same issues as you can chime in here. The clean install route is always an option, but I know how time consuming that...

Re: Issue with video engine just started today. Help

H.264 is dodgy. They run "ok" for me, with the occasional video engine dropout, usually the "Pro Tools could not create thumbnails..." error, or the video will just freeze up during playback while...

Re: Pt12 memory

Good call, start with the 3x8 for 24 gigs, see how the memory usage is looking in your sessions, and when need be, double it up to 48 :-)
