Re: HD cards with two sync connectors

There are 2 formats of HD cards, the newer PCIe and the older PCI. The PCI HD cards have the PCIX form factor, but the extra row of pins is not actually used, so they will fit and function in a PCI...

Re: And in other ”news” Waves are having a fire sale ... $29 for ”all” plugins ..

I agree $29 is a smokin deal for some of them.

I recommend:

API 2500
SSL E Channel
H-delay

Those 3 are my most commonly used waves plugs, if you don’t have them they are well worth...

Re: 2019 iMac i9 + PT 2018 + Mojave

Compared to the iMac pro, everyone has told me the standard iMac has fan noise issues. Just curious, is this still true with this new i9 model, or does it run cooler/quieter than its predecessors...

Re: PT 6.4.1 link down

Most of the links on the old archives are broken now. Haven’t been there for a while, fortunately I have the installers I need backed up. There are still a few other people running mix rigs that come...

Re: NY Times They Really Don’t Make Music Like They Used To

I agree that a good live performance is often a parallel to a good recording. Best concerts I have been to lately have been the guitarist Jesse Cook. My 9 year old son loves listening to his...

Re: PT5 with Waves V4 - don't connect iLok to License Manager

I had a similar problem a few years ago with one of the license cards that slid into the old iloks. At some point, the ilok software stopped supporting those, so the new ilok software ate the...

Re: Superior drummer 2 error

Any other MiDI data other than notes? You should see the controller type listed in the same drop down if it has automation. I.e. modwheel is CC1, etc.

I don’t have superior drummer, so it will be...

Re: Ancient HD3 PCIx system - any use?!

The PCI/PCIx thing always seems to generate confusion.

The earlier HD cards (not PCIe) have the PCIx form factor, but are technically PCI. You can actually install them in the shorter PCI form...

Re: Superior drummer 2 error

Switch the view from “notes” to “controllers -> sustain” and see if there is any sustain pedal automation there.

Re: WTB Orchestral Virtual Instruments

Most orchestral VI’s have licensing restrictions and can’t be resold second hand. I would watch for sales, eastwest seems to have a pretty significant discount on their products a few times a year,...

Re: 888 - 16 as stand alone

The 888/24 could work as an ADC with Analogue in, AES out... in this config there was no need for a digilink connection. As the OP said, there were jumpers inside to set it to either 48 or 44.1 kHz....

There are a few waves plugs that are on my goto list... I use api2500 the most, also really like H-delay.

Re: MIX3 6.4.1 Wordclock Sync

You need a USD or sync IO to change the apogees word clock to super clock. Back in the day, I used to run a blackburst generator as my master clock, feed that into a USD, then feed everything else...

Re: Damn! Miss my mix 24!

I think most of the TDM plugins from the MIX era were easier to use. Maybe it was just because there were fewer choices and you had to pay more, so you spent more time getting to know a plugin. I do...

Re: Convincing trill

Every note should have subtle variations in:
1. timing (as mentioned above don't quantize)
2. velocity (if the library you are using has multiple samples for different velocities, use them!)
