You can see my description of my working system here: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=292055

My advice is to purchase the kit and provide your own case and power supply. Most people's...

Re: ERXP is LIVE!!!

Purchased and installed. I just wanted to point out for any potential buyers that I believe the firmware upgrade will wipe out any presets you have created. At least I think this is the case, so...

Re: PCIx in PCI slots...

The extra connectors ( that would make the card PCIX) just hang there off the back edge of the PCI connector. They don't need to contact anything, the card will work in a PCI slot if you can get it...

Re: PCIx in PCI slots...

The PTHD PCI-X cards work in regular PCI slots. I have used them both on a PC motherboard and inside an expansion chassis attached to a Mac Pro. The problems you will run into with regular...

Re: PCIe to PCI Adapter

With 96 audio tracks using the 96 voice ( 2DSP ) and 256 samples I'm getting around 50% PCI bus load. Just for fun I also inserted a 1 Band EQ3 on each track. I did this by creating a single track...

Thumbs up Re: PCIe to PCI Adapter

I checked out a bunch of forums for this, and I was never able to get any sort of definitive answer. So I bit the bullet and ordered the kit version. The shipping took a LONG time but it finally...

I also eventually deleted this to make the registration nagging stop.

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chip

Yeah, I just saw that. It is a bummer from a technical point of view, but it probably means better selection of video cards, and possibly an easier task of hacking OSX on to normal X86 hardware.

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chip

This also means that Apple will have access (and ability to influence) Intel's other chips and chipsets, all of which are important for making the whole package work. Right now, I believe Apple has...

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chip

I would say it is not completely clear. Apple provides an API that developers can use to get access to processor vectorization features in a platform neutral way. I have no idea if Altiverb uses...

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chip

Here is the official Apple release

It appears they have also released XCode 2.1 (which has support for building OSX binaries for Intel). ...

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chip

NeXT OS had the ability to produce multi-platform binaries (They called them quad-fat and they ran on X86, ppc, m68k and sparc if I remember correctly) A lot of folks always assumed they kept this...

Re: flawless (are you kidding me)

I have experienced nothing but polite, knowledgeable and helpful individuals when contacting digi tech support. I cannot say that about many organizations.

Re: 6.4 delay compensation

Anyone happen to know how much (if any) extra DSP does ADC use in 44.1 sessions? (32 and 64 voice)

Thanks!

Re: What\'s up with the wider panning? 6.4?

The changes (AFAIK) to PT 6.4 regarding panning involve user adjustable pan law. This has nothing to do with perceived "width" of a mix. As you pan from hard left/right to center the mixer has to...

Re: HELP!!?? Recording Vocals with Compressor

I always track vocals with an outboard compressor (distressor in my case). Depending on the situation, I will use a very mild ratio 2:1, 4:1 and rather moderate attack and release, OR a 10:1...

Re: Recording drums mic pre\'s order of importance

I noticed a HUGE difference in the quality of my drum recordings when I swapped out the 15 year old Pearl Export kit for a DW Collector. With the old kit, I found that I had to spend hours tweaking...

Re: Question about HD from LE user

A nice option you might want to keep in mind is you only need one of the HD interfaces (96io, 192io, etc) for your system. I have a 192io, and then I use the legacy port to hook up an 882/20 which...

Re: Started building a Protools system but questions..

I don't know if this will help you at all, but my understanding of Digi's licensing regarding their TDM software is that your software is tied to your core card. It is not technically acceptable (to...
