Re: In Response to Pro Tools HD 10 Feedback

If Flex or Follow Tempo is enabled, that's true.

Logic doesn't have Audiosuite, but Bounce In Place, which doesn't render the original file. If you want to edit the actual file/sample, you need...

Re: HD Native low latency monitoring

Can anyone who know the facts or have a HD Native system correct my speculations above, now when the cat is out of the bag?
Thanks. :)

Re: HD Native low latency monitoring

Trying to answer my own questions here, based on some more reading since these questions were posted:

The 32 buffer is only for DAE users. The lowest buffer CoreAudio users can use is 64 samples....

Re: HD VS NATIVE....HD Advantages?

That depends on which buffer you are talking about. The playback buffer can be at 512 samples (and won't, from what I've read, go lower than 512 on some native DAWs), but that has no influence on the...

Re: HD VS NATIVE....HD Advantages?

Yes, you'll get latency in the 2-3 ms latency range without using low latency mode. Without plugins, in LLM mode, the latency is even lower.

Re: HD VS NATIVE....HD Advantages?

Buffers in PTHD and in native systems are two different things. A native system may use a high buffer setting like 512 for playback of the already recorded tracks (which is what the PT buffer setting...

Re: HD Native low latency monitoring

I agree that all this is very confusing, especially after having read what Avid reps have written about it on this and other forums.

1) ASIO user can only use the 128 buffer or higher. What about...

Re: HD Native question

Hi, I checked PTHD with 192 I/O once @ 44.1 khz, and the latency was 2.4 ms. I know part of the reason for the low latency must be the higher sample rate, but which interface is that number (0.44 ms)...

Re: Any real advantage of TDM plugs versus Native?

With all due respect... isn't this just another example of 'conjecture' and missing out on the 'fact' part?

Re: How can I move from Pro Tools to Logic and back?

Depending on your definition of consolidate, there are at least three such functions in Logic. What do you miss?

There isn't such a feature in Logic. :)

Re: How can I move from Pro Tools to Logic and back?

If the local engineer will present in the Logic based studio, there shouldn't be a problem at all. The simplest solution is of course only to make a stereo mix of each song, import it into Logic,...

Re: How can I move from Pro Tools to Logic and back?

There are several ways to create stems in Logic, eg. by routing tracks to various outputs and bounce that output to a new file. But for exporting single tracks (which I guess is what the OP wants if...

Re: How can I move from Pro Tools to Logic and back?

Use AAF, forget OMF. It seems that OMF development has gotten less and less priority for quite a while.

If you use the Takes folder concept in Logic to record multiple takes, just unpack the the...

Re: Logic 9 mix bus vs Pro Tools 8.

I think: Why am I almost 100% certain that you - or nobody else - ever will post two small files documenting the differences you hear? :D

Four bars would be enough. And it's easy: Take a project,...

Re: Love Pro Tools HD, Logic not an option.

You can have as many floating fader windows you want in Logic, and they can show whatever you want. Just select Frameless Floating Window in the Env. menu. The stuck RAM is of course totally not what...

Re: Love Pro Tools HD, Logic not an option.

True - you need an add-on:http://www.opuslocus.net/logic/

I may have had that once or twice even if I've used Logic both as a separate application and with TDM for many years. Something must be...

Re: Digi and the future

There are a couple of valid reasons to use HD systems (like wanting to be compatible with other TDM users) but DSP power isn't one of them - anymore. An 18 month old MacPro (the least expensive 2008...

Re: Anyone using OS 10.3.7?

To those of you using 10.3.7 successfully on G4's with HD systems.... are you all using 6.7 (if yes, which cs?) Or are someone still on 6.4?

Re: More Emagic Logic complaints

I agree. Even if nobody likes the feeling that Helge (above) refer to (that he 'lost' money because he didn't wait), I think the price reductions on software and plug-in's are great.
