Re: Pro Tools Aggregate won't initialize

Hi Welcome to DUC

Re: Output path suddenly not working

Welcome to the world of folks who have been caught by that before. So embarrassing when I've done it. :-)

Re: Output path suddenly not working

First thing to double check is the correct playback engine is selected. It's very easy to get burnt by that.

Re: Sidelined by CPU Problem on 32GB Mac

I hope we will see more USB 3.1/Gen 2 USB drives in the 4TB capacity range soon and hopefully Thunderbolt 3/PCIe/NVMe drives as well.

The NVMe SSDs are just so stunningly fast, but always be...

Re: Protools 003 rack

Yes. And understanding the motivation/issues here helps. There may be a lot of pain to go through in any upgrade if *all* the issues today could be solved with an OS X downgrade (assuming it's that...

Re: Protools 003 rack

When did that start? Because you upgraded the OS to a version not supported by Pro Tools 8? If so it may be easier to fix that (roll back the OS version) than go through all this other pain and...

Re: adding a 2nd 192 to my PT rig ??

Oh oops forgot you need to run loop sync between the boxes... but still simple.

Open up the 192 IO user guide if unclear on loop sync.

Remember digitest is your friend. Any issues swap the new...

Re: Protools 003 rack

Of course your Mac Mini may be under configured to run modern Pro Tools... we have no clue, you never gave any of those details.

You already have it upgraded to the last version of macOS that it...

Re: Protools 003 rack

Again "Newest version of Pro Tools that supports 10.11.6 is 2018.12" So of course you can install that. if your system is not in a nice clean state you might want to do a clean macOS install on a...

Re: adding a 2nd 192 to my PT rig ??

If that 192 is the only device on that DigiLink chain then yes it's that simple.

Re: Protools 003 rack

What's the exact question? What do you mean by "run the upgrade with this type of Mac?"

Upgrading stuff has little to do with the specific mac hardware.... as long as the system meets the minimal...

Re: Really getting frustrated

What you are trying to do is make big bold steps to try to triangulate the problem. e.g. is it downstream of the DAW or if it's in the DAW is it a plugin etc... rare for clicks and pops there not to...

Re: Really getting frustrated

I don't mean just no plugins in the session. I mean you troubleshoot this "properly" by moving all .aaxplugin files out of the plugin folder and trashing prefs and trying with just the standard Pro...

Re: Sidelined by CPU Problem on 32GB Mac

The place I would put the samples if I they would fit would be the internal PCIe3x4/NVMe SSD on this Mac Mini. So much faster than the external HDD... but unclear how much that would help this actual...

Re: PTF crashes when trying to select audio engine

The best advice you are likely to get is you should purchase an ASIO interface. Something that comes with a native ASIO driver (and is supported on Windows 7.. or upgrade Windows as well)

If you...

Re: I/O issues PT 2020.5 macbook Pro 2019

Hi welcome to DUC.

Forget session templates they are not important now.

Forget Pro Tools cloud, work in sessions only.

Re: Install Pro Tools 2020 beside Pro Tools 12?

Now if I wanted to check compatibility.... I'd do a clean macOS install on a partition/container on your boot drive or if not room there then on a spare SSD... install of macOS does not take too long...

Re: Install Pro Tools 2020 beside Pro Tools 12?

Yes as long as your system is compatible with 2020. Your plugins and the pref files are shared so that could cause issues. Try it.

Re: Time machine, Backblaze affect Pro Tools performance?

Yes absolutely. Just being loaded into Pro Tools, even if you are not using it can cause all sorts of issues. May pay to first suspect plugins you are using, but "unused" plugins are alive and able...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.5 not launching

But something is wrong here.

Why did all this break? Are your plugins all badly out of date? PT Prefs also reports plugin versions so you can check there against vendors supported version info....

Re: Time machine, Backblaze affect Pro Tools performance?

Lots of standard troubleshooting to dive into then. Maybe these issues are related, maybe not. But as always suspect plugins, start by trashing prefs and double checking you have every optimization...

Follow the instructions under "Help us help you" up the top of each DUC web page.

Or easier use Pete Gates' PT Prefs utility. http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html

Re: HDX card not found in new Thunderbolt rack mount chasis

This same issue keeps coming up on DUC.

I did not see a clear answer to the key question... did you approve the driver install security prefs question when you installed the driver? You have to do...
