Thanks! That looks like the right part but I will check w/ my audio-electronics-hardware friends for confirmation. Yes it's more than $0.50 but still so much less than an HDX card that it's worth...

Well, I tried a session on the boot drive, and still hit the exact same errors (there were no samples or other items using the extern SSD, so it was a clean test).

Good point. The chassis is on bus 1 and HDMI on 0.

Thanks for the replies. Definitely, some interesting experiments to try here.

1) A second Thunderbolt 2 enclosure for the existing OWC card + drives
2) Screw it and get an extra-large boot drive...

I managed to find installers on Avid's site for the AAX 64-bit plugins, and now everything is working great. Thank you so much for your help! :-)
