Latency is a byproduct of USB, is this correct?

So would the solution be to have a sound card in a PCI slot?

I wouldn't get latency...

Thanks Bastiaan, i know i'll figure this thing out eventually. I think i'll have to end up getting a mixer, i only have an aux send input on my 4 track.

Thanks for that link, abrice. That iMic looks pretty cool. I guess that means i can plug my acoustic guitar with pick up as well with it. So now i just have to research USB midi interfaces, i suppose.

I have a regular G4 tower. I just need a starter device or something to at least get me started. I don't want to have to buy a sound card or anything if i don't have to.
