My plugins haven't changed in a while...did a whole record last year on essentially the same setup but ported over to my new macbook pro via time machine. I'll pull all the plugs and add them back...

I agree completely John. Funny story, I found ipower guys on ebay and when I called them to order I found out they are located 2 blocks from my house! small world. Great people to buy from.

Man you gotta bite the bullet and go big like I did. You won't regret it when you see 24 CPU meters in PT.

Good extra upgrades for the 5,1:
get a pci SSD system drive
USB 3.0 card
plenty of ram...

Hmmm maybe I'm having an issue with a Slate plug or something. I get CPU spikes and the 12th core (out of 24) meter looks maxed like a bell curve if that's normal.

The "support" portion of the plan, for mission critical houses in mind, is not generally useful at all to us HD folk. Generally, we are the ones sophisticated enough to run our rigs...

I had weird problems for a year with a PT build once. It finally ended up being the video card and the usb thing. I would go into the bios and disable everything you can...

I would try and disable ALL USB hubs in system prefs and see if it runs well. then one by one enable until you find the offending hub. I ran into this a few times.

also it may be the video card...
