Re: New Rig and still running out on cpu?? :C

I'll ask the obvious- what plugins are you running? Are you just running plugins included with PT, or are you running third party plugins?

Are you running any virtual instruments? In my...

Version 10 drops and updates on v9 go cold!!

Well, I think most people kinda figured this would happen, but since V10 dropped, we're not seeing anything in the way of updates/hotfixes to v9. The window versions of PT is still a hot mess right...

Re: core i7-2600K Build

I'm running PT9 with the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 on the P67 chipset.

I went with the EVGA P67 motherboard with my i7-2600k build. ...

Re: pro tools 9 unstable on new machine

One other thing, In addition to your onboard audio, you have another HD audio source for EVGA which I presume is probably to support an HDMI port on your EVGA video card? So you have two virtual...

Re: pro tools 9 unstable on new machine

A few things with this rig that I see. I'll preface things by saying I'm running the same CPU and intel chipset, just on an EVGA motherboard.

DISABLE ONBOARD HD AUDIO!!! I presume you're using...

Re: Intel i7 3960X Sandy Bridge-E Processor with X79 ?

I always go with EVGA motherboards. In my 20 some years buiding computers, I haven't found one better. Round the clock US phone support, high quality onboard components. I'm not sure there is an any...

Re: PT9, ASIO issue on Windows 7, w Focusrite Saffire 56

I run one audio source, that's the Saffire pro 40. The device and driver are set as my primary playback and record device. So anything I do in windows, including online videos or listen to music goes...

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

Maybe so - and for those folks that laid out the cash - RIGHFULLY SO, right? And I'm sure there is a very long line of folks from the midi world that would still disagree with that as HDX isn't...

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

Thanks DRC!

That's why I asked if folks using PT 9/10 Native knew what else was out. As a PT 9 Native and Sonar X1 Producer owner, I can honestly say there is simply no comparison between the...

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

Sure tracking 16 mics shouldn't be a problem in PT Native, but how about adding a drum sampler like BFD2 or Superior? Then throw in a few various samplers from the "approved" plugin list? Not really...

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

I guess it also depends on your "Native" product. PT9/10 as a native product pales in comparison to what's out there on the market. Folks at Roland and Steinberg and a few others have been at the...

Re: PT9, ASIO issue on Windows 7, w Focusrite Saffire 56

Obe1 - you're using onboard sound? That always caused issues for me. I always disable the "HD" onboard audio in the bios because for some reason in Win 7 it throws fits. Best of luck to you in...

Re: Saffire pro 40 with PT10

I would tend to agree with you. Unfortunately the Focusrite techs suggested otherwise to solve an issue I was having. If I boot the Saffire after windows loads, there is no issue. Focusrite blames...

Re: PT9, ASIO issue on Windows 7, w Focusrite Saffire 56

OB1 - I'm running PT 9.05 with the Saffire Pro 40 in Win 7 x64 using the 2.4 driver console. I used to get this error, and I'm not sure what resolved it for me exactly other than setting up my...

Re: Random Crash/Freeze in Protools 9.0.6 Windows 7 64 bit

A couple things that jump out at me when reviewing this case. I've had lockups in PT9 using Kontakt play 4 for many of the virtual instruments. In my experience, I would get a complete system...

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

Amen!

I just wonder how many people realize all that's out there and what they can accomplish with a multicore PC in a 64bit environment. I use DSP processing on my own system with my UAD cards....

Re: It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

I appreciate your insights on this Chris. Good stuff. I wouldn't argue that DSP based systems work better when compared to their native counterparts. I would assume a PT10 with HD DSP works much...

Re: Saffire pro 40 with PT10

FireBird- I have your SAME setup with Sonar X1 and PT 9. This issue occured in PT9 too.

You get this issue because the sample rate set in the Saffire does not match what you're trying to do in...

It's 2012- Why are we still pushing DSP processors?

I came back to Pro Tools with installment 9 because Avid opened up the software to be used with just about any interface. One of things that always kept me away from Avid was this obnoxious marriage...

Re: Why PT10 is not 64 bit... let's get this over with ;)

You must have the touch! i7 sandy bridge on windows is a mess right now. I've tried all the tricks, reserved more than half of the cores for O/S..same deal. I go into any of my other two DAWs, no...

Re: Why PT10 is not 64 bit... let's get this over with ;)

Will a 64bit design resolve muti core CPU issues that plague PT 9 native?? People are clamoring for added memory support when this program can't manage multiple CPU cores. Will 64bit address the...

Not even close. The hit song functionality can only be unlocked by purchasing Avid's new HD-XXX PCI-E audio interface for $35,999.00 US. Before you flinch, you should know it comes complete with...

Avid has had 3 years plus to get on the 64 bit train, rather than scramble to take a reactive approach to the whole thing. So Avid again looks to create a proprietary plugin format so they can sell...

Re: Let me get this straight....

Great point Greg. It would be an incredible risk at this point for Avid and that's why everyone knows it won't happen. You either sell closed systems costing tens of thousands in hardware or you...
