I already had that function enabled as I mentioned in my original post.

Could you try a Bounce test? I saw a video of REAPER performing great up until the bounce test where it gave a 0.0x speed with 7 hours of waiting time for a normal song.

Apparently the 8GB RAM is as efficient as 16GB on Intel and the 16GB as efficient as 32GB, which is why almost no one is having issues with the 8GB models.

I've used it successfully with 12.8.1.

I've also used it with 2018.1 but it can crash under certain circumstances, although that might have been a plugin's fault more so than Pro Tools itself.
