Ableton's approach to midi editing is very elegant, showing the note name on the midi note is v nice too, Ableton and Cubase both do this.

It seems incredible you can't do such a simple thing in one go, they could just add a "split region and notes" command to the edit menu, probably 10 mins of a PT developer's time.

I can sympathise with the original post. I think other DAWs are more obviously music oriented eg Cubase,Reason whereas PT is a more generalised professional audio editor which makes it less intuitive...

yes it needs to be off so i can have separate edit and timeline selections
which will loop separately. the point i am making is that the playback cursor disappears when an ES is earlier than a TS...

i've no doubt yr method will work but i was thinking of something more elegant whereby PLs can be assigned to a group in situ without having to move them about eg create a group...

yes i am a bit torn as to where to spend my money when it comes to upgrading. PT might be the industry standard but u get a lot more content with other daws like cubase and PT still doesn't seem to...

i have figured out what is going on: if an editor window is minimised
the kb shortcut eg ctrl= will only bring the minimised window to the front ie it doesn't maximise it as well so minimising...

this is my main problem with pro tools le and the reason i switched to propellerhead reason. i am running win 7 64 (had the problem with win 7 32 also), mini mbox 2 and PTLE 8.05:the main editor...
