Can the Preamps/Converters on a Digi 003 be used for anything?

I'm more producer than engineer, so I can't tell the difference between a good pre and a bad one. But I listened to people and bought an 8-channel lightpipe preamp from Focusrite and I'm wondering if...

Re: Best Audio Hard Drive?

Why?
Wouldn't it make sense to get a drive with fast sequential writing for an audio drive and a drive with fast effective speeds for the OS?

Re: Best Audio Hard Drive?

I have the iMac12,1... Which is a very special computer because it is the only iMac that can be upgraded to 32GB and the only iMac that can hold 3 hard drives on Sata 3 connectors.

Re: Best Audio Hard Drive?

Yeah, but what about the drives, don't the benchmarks matter?

Best Audio Hard Drive?

I'm researching hard drives on userbenchmark.com and I'm a little confused about speeds. Is it better to have a hard drive with a faster effective speed or sequential speed as the secondary audio...

Should I get an SSD or SSHD for audio drive?

So I bought an SSD for my operating system drive and I was looking in to buying on for my audio drive, but that would mean spending $750 on a 2TB Samsung Evo because that's how much storage I need. ...

Need MIDI Help

Problem: Either my motif is not receiving MIDI instruction, or my Digi 002 is not sending it.

I have double checked the buses and they are all on the correct channels. None of them are grey. I...

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

The Caviar is now gone. I have a Samsung EVO for my OS drive and the Seagate for my Audio drive. Everything is way faster, but I still get the errors. This time I took screenshots. (see attachments...

I was considering upgrading to PT 9, but I am dependent on so many of my old school plugins. Am I correct in my assessment that I would have to reinstall my plugins, or can I migrate them somehow.

Re: What's the deal with the Digi 003 direct inputs?

Okay, so I save up and buy the ISA428... Then what do I do with the Great River? I would still need a converter no?

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

By the way thanks to both of you for all your help, I truly hope this helps my performance. But I still don't understand how CPU errors or an indication of a slow hard drive. One would think that...

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

Well, I don't have $1,200 for a 1.2TB SSD (which is the min. I could get by with) so I'm getting an 840 Evo for my OS drive an I'm using the Barracuda for my audio drive until prices go down....

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

Well, I'm going to buy an SSD and a WDC black, but I'm trying to determine if the SSD would be better used as an audio drive or as my main drive.

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

Is having a faster audio drive more important than having a faster OS drive?

What if I switched the 3TB Seagate for and used the Caviar as my backup?

Re: I am getting "H/W Buffer" errors, but I have lots of power???

Mr. Ramm, thank you for responding to my inquiry. This has been a massive headache.

Do you think an SSD drive for my main drive would speed it up?

Re: What's the deal with the Digi 003 direct inputs?

I was going off what you said about the Midas XL48 having 8 "excellent preamps" for $875. I just thought maybe there was something with half the channels at half the price. Basically... I need to...
