Re: Analog vs. digital mixing

Good stuff, but I have a suggestion:
Instead of announcing which version, playing, then announcing the next version and playing, skip the pause and talk and use a graphic on the screen to show which...

Re: Recommended SSD drives for sessions?

Indeed, Samsung and OWC are the usual 2 I recommend, with the exception being the Samsung QVO drives. I have had problems with that series(EVO and PRO are rock solid):o

Re: Faders appear grouped separatly..even if it they arent!!

Start by showing the groups list in the screen shot. Without seeing what's in place, not sure anyone can help. The 2 screens you show look like normal operation for the ALL group, except for a single...

Re: SPINNER vs SSD for D drive

I also keep separate recording drives. My system drives are a trio of 500GB SSD's that I rotate out. One has the last solid setup of Windows and PT(2018.12 in this case), the second is the latest PT...

Re: AAE - 9073 error.

Oh yeah, slow drives are awful and recording drives need to have a fair amount of available free space. I would never allow a recording drive to get more than 70-80% full. 7200 rpm is minimum for...

Re: SPINNER vs SSD for D drive

I do NOT recommend the Samsung QVO drives. EVO and PRO are both fine. I agree that there's not much reason to by a spinner these days except for large storage(like the dual WD Red 6TB drives in my...

Re: Torturing a Classical Guitar Track

My opinion only:o I think you ARE doing it in the best way, overall. The only change I would make is that I would stick with X-Form all the way thru. The biggest issue with multiple tracks of the...

Re: SCREEN FREEZE when opening older, larger projects.

Looking over the Sandra report, I suspect it may be mixing old and new(er), specifically, PT11 and Waves 11(going to Waves 12 seems like a worse idea to me). Beyond that, it is a fairly old PC with...

Re: Audio Interface Upgrade - Recommendations?

One important detail you left out is; what connections do you have available? If you have Thunderbolt, that's probably the best way to go as you'll get the lowest latency. Not sure what focusrite has...

Re: click mouse and hold then scroll and solo multiple tracks possible?

Not that I know of, and I've been using Pro Tools since version 6. I have seen it on some other DAW's but actually don't miss it very much.

There are some easy work-arounds for soloing bunches of...

Re: Electric Guitar doesn't sound clean enough

Things to consider:
1-you said you posted a song but no song is linked
2-The quality of the sound encompasses several things, hand tone, the guitar(style, condition, proper setup), player...

Re: OK I'm done with my Digi003 - Help with new hardware

I also retired my 003R a few months ago(and also had the mixer version but used very little of the surface). My replacement is the Presonus Studio 1810c and its been working quite nicely once I gave...

Re: SCREEN FREEZE when opening older, larger projects.

Big fun!:D What version of Waves(7, 8, 9 10, etc)? Maybe something needs an update? Troubleshooting can be a PITA so be methodical with it. I use the modifier key(Alt for us Windows users) and...

That would have been my suggestion too. Maybe check their website and look for some tutorial videos on that function? Then there are some other plugins that are worth a demo:

Re: SCREEN FREEZE when opening older, larger projects.

Try opening these older projects with plugins inactive(Hold the SHIFT key while opening the session). If that allows the session to open, then its very likely some plugin at fault.

Re: Can I pay Avid to install Pro Tools First?

That's not really going to work, but you do have some good options. Here are some:
1-Go to youtube and watch some video tutorials on getting started with Pro Tools, or How to setup a midi keyboard...

Re: Connecting MIDI-Keyboard when Audio Interface has no MIDI Inputs

2 things to consider:
#1-have you gone into Setup>Midi>Midi Studio and configured the keyboard and routing? Pro Tools needs to know where to "look for" midi data and this window is where that gets...

Re: Commit up to this insert...

When I commit a track with Melodyne, I always ONLY commit from Melodyne(which is always in the top insert). I also never put a reverb plugin directly on an audio or instrument track(I always use...
