Re: PT Mix to LE

Brian, thanks. That was exactly the sort of info I was hoping for. I'll investigate my plug-in situation.

PT Mix to LE

Anyone here gone from a TDM Mix setup to an LE setup?

I still have an ancient Mix++ setup, but I'm considering moving on...

I never go much above 32 tracks, and tend to keep things fairly...

Re: MIX to HD. Worthwhile? Interface?

You can do Mix on OS X, no problem. You just need to upgrade to PT 6.2. In your circumstances, I doubt if there's any real advantage in HD.

Re: Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 Update for MIX Owners

I'm currently using 6.1...will I need to upgrade any/all of my plug-ins to work with 6.4?

Thanks,

Re: has anyone heard the focusrite liquid channel???

Update...I talked to my friend last night, and apparently there was something up with the firmware of the beta model he was given...he hasn't had time to update the thing or test it some more, but...

Re: has anyone heard the focusrite liquid channel???

A friend of mine, who owns a lot of the gear being modelled (convoluted?) was given one, in exchange for letting them model some of his gear.

We spent three or four hours with it.

Mic-pres:...

Re: Liquid channel

I think they have a lot of work to do. We tried it, and made comparisons with some of the emulated pres and compressors...we also had the Producer Pack handy, and, well, all the pre emulations on the...

Re: Which soft (or hard) sampler format do you use?

I think Reason might be a good format to support, since it isn't tied to any one platform. I've been using it (mainly as a soft sampler) for a few months now, and it's been very solid...

Re: Reason 2.5 and PT....

What he said. I'd add that I've been using the PT-rewire-reason setup for only about a month, and not all that intensively, but I've seen no deterioration in stability....

Re: DJs/Remixers song rights a problem?

Well, this goes to the traditional view that the production or remix is a totally separate copyright entity from the song itself, production and remixing being 'arrangement', rather than...

Have you tried asking over in John Kletts forum on prosound web? If anyone will know, he will.

Re: Question for you pros

Well, there have been conflicting ideas around, but I think it's fair to say that with even quite cheap 24bit stuff, it's not necessary, or even desirable, to record everything blazing hot. If you...

Re: Question for you pros

Well, I don't think you should be afraid of recording quiet things quietly. However, the signal to noise ratio of your synth will probably remain fairly constant whatever level you record it at. If...

Re: Vocal production : who knows how to get the result

I worked with a well-known pop/RnB mixer in LA not so long ago. Many of the details escape me, but this is rough guide as to what he was doing:

Vocal was multed three ways. Channel 1 was the...

Re: ProTools HD ACCEL

Do Apple or Dell or Compaq have a hardware exchange/upgrade programme? No. Can you make 192k recordings on HD? Yes. I don't think Digi ever fudged the issue of how many tracks etc. you'd get with HD...

Re: Running 192k Who? What\'s needed?

Why would this be an issue? Even if the intermodulation does occurr in the air, the resulting sidebands and subtones below 20Khz (ie. the ones we'd hear) would be recorded perfectly well at 44.1, no?...

Re: About to sell my desk and get channel strips

Also, check out the Brent Averill Neve and Calrec refurbs. The Calrecs are less well known, but excellent, and Averill gets them to be like new.

Re: Distortion when mixing

I'll second the idea of lowering your channel faders. I used to have the same questions about smearing and loss of clarity in the PT mix bus until I got myself a pair of proper VU meters, and started...
