On the D-Control, that button is hiding between Mute Clear and Auto Suspend and clearly I had a hand slip and unwittingly pressed it .... for the first time...

I don't know what I did, but for days now, every track name scribble strip on the D-Control has a dash then a space before the name. So obviously this leaves only 4 characters for the name instead of...

That's a fair and true point.
But as long as you reduce your output to below 0dB FS - which is where you should be working anyway - it will print fine.

Just a friendly correction on this point.
You cannot NOT work in 32-bit mode in Pro Tools. The mixer is 32/64 bit all the time.

The option to have your session running at 16/24/32 is purely...

I can confirm it DOESN'T work on Studio.
With the advanced automation and several other things trickling down to PT Studio, it would have allowed some people to jump down a tier.

I was having random plugins that would not authorise when I know there were auths on the ilok. Then Pro Tools itself demanded an auth.

I've read the requirements and the need for two cascading dongles .... (so Apple don't make a dedicated TB3 > Ethernet adaptor?)

A fabulous multiband alternative for this upward expansion is the McDSP ML4000. It used to be pretty expensive but I've seen it as low as $50 recently.

Its magic is that it can simultaneously turn down stuff that's too loud (like a conventional downward compressor) and also turn up stuff that's too soft.

It's awesome for that and it's easy.

There's nothing wrong with just using the rack with one module in it.
You could put a FGX-2 over your master as the only device in the rack if you want. The rack on its own won't punish your CPU....

Same problem - didn't work for me on any of Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

Thanks to Neil above who suggested logging into your Avid account and then clicking on your downloads. That worked.

The only issue is that I've naturally got the matching frame for a 32 fader rig, so if I tried to split it up, doesn't that mess up the configuration?
