OK I've tried EVERYTHING on the Avid Snow Leopard optimizations page including disabling the Sudden Motion Sensor and resetting the SMC and trying a new user account.

The machine is a late 2008 2.1GHz core2duo MacBook.

No software from Logitech here. I should say that PT9 worked fine for about 3 weeks beforehand.

I'll try installing on a Mac Pro i have here...

OS updates - Combo or not?

Digi (& Cycling '74) used to recommend only downloaded Combo updaters for OS upgrades.

Is this still the case in the Leopard/Snow Leopard age or is it OK to use Software Update these days?

Thanks for the suggestion JC but I've tried stripping out the Rewire plug to no avail.

What makes things even more frustrating is that the behaviour appears to be totally intermittent.

OK, after doing a little digging I am now guessing that this issue is to do with authorisation.

My lab build has a single authorised copy of PTLE installed that I have imaged around the lab...
