The little research I did on AHCI seemed to indicate that there was generally no benefit for workstations, but mainly for servers and databases - high volume disk read/writes and multiple requests....

Basically it doesn't matter whether you are recording analogue or digital - if you've recorded bad clipping then that's what you've got. You can do stuff to try...
