To the OP - your board runs DDR2- correct ?
It will be for you to decide if you want to populate four slots with 2GB DDR2 modules, it will cost way way more than if you were able to use DDR3 and...

IRQ conflicts - bad news really.
Have a look in the Device Manager, conflicts show as yellow exclamation marks. Check those out and you'll find a resource is shared.

Is this with your MobilePre or Profire 2626 ? If you have a look back at my latest posts I've had similar issues.

Hows the DVD connected ? Using the ITE IDE controller 2 x UltraDMA 133/100/66
?
IRQ conflict sounds most likely. On my P5K/EPU IDE is by a Marvell chipset - enable that and instant conflict trying...
