Re: 8.0.1 Session Files Becoming Corrupted!

I'm waiting for a response from Digi tech support before I continue, but your suggestion is likely my next step. Strange, how it runs so solid... for a while anyway.

8.0.1 Session Files Becoming Corrupted!

Since my update to 8.0.1, I have noticed that my sessions--when new--would seem to run fine for several days, and then strange things would begin to happen: my first 3 clues were: 1. after hitting...

Re: New Command 8

I am reluctantly ordering a Command 8. I just finished putting an Axiom Pro 49 through the acid test, and it repeatedly caused PT8 running on my HD3 Accel rig running on a Quad core Mac Pro to crash...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Update on my last post: After nearly three months of the problem not happening, it has returned; how random.

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

This may seem like a strange coincidense, but I felt it was worth reporting: So far, in 2008, my machine has not once exhibited the boot problem; which is odd considering that it had consistently--on...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Yes, in fact they did; they offered to send me a machine to use in the meantime, but I think that with all of our Macs doing the same basic thing, it would seem by now that Digi could have gotten...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I have witnessed it occur on my Mac Pro 2.66 when configured as an HD 1, HD 2, and HD 3. No change in this behaviour now 1 year after purchasing the system. I'm still running OS 10.4.9 and PT...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I also have the same system, and doubt that upgrading from 7.3 to 7.4 would have any effect on the boot problem; which is in my opinion hardware and/or firmware related. I do plan to upgrade to 7.4...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

10.4.9 has worked great for me, so far as PT operation is concerned, but I'm looking forward to upgrading just to get rid of the boot problem. I wonder if Digi will chime in on the firmware fix...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

[QUOTE]
Still no boot up issue since firmware was updated.

Craig [QUOTE]

The latest EFI firmware update for the Mac Pro is 1.2, and requires OS 10.4.10. I have 1.1 and OS 10.4.9 right now....

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Thanks for the first potentially useful tip in some time. I have not yet updated since new, and will look into this very soon. My boot problem has remained consistent, and it would be great to knock...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I still continue to experience this problem, and recently witnessed for the first time, the problem happening in reverse! I shut down normally, monitors went black, seemed normal...until, I look over...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Hmmm, I wonder why JohnnyG's rig isn't having the problem!

Let's hope Digi's on the verge of a solution. A status update would be helpful. Glass half full!

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Here is my update on the boot problem: I have noticed a change based on how long I hold down the power button. I usually press and release the power button anywhere from around 100-400 ms, and I get...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Did you buy your two Macs at the same place, at the same time? HD cards at the same place, same time?

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I have exhausted every hardware related option I can think of (except swapping logic board, and or power supply). One thing for sure is that no external peripheral devices effect this particular...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

That is very interesting; so there is at least one system that has not shown the problem...yet, (and hopefully for you, never does). My system has also gone for over a week without it happening, and...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Does Digidesign actually have, or know of others who have, an HD Accel loaded Intel Mac that DOESN'T exhibit this problem? Earlier in this thread on 4/17/07, I made the statement: "I want to know if...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I don't know how you are achieving a x8 speed on your 4th slot, because for me, regardless of which PCIe Alternate Profile I use, my HD cards always default to x1. The only change I get is in...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I have changed the setting at your request to the bottom config. Slots 2,3,and 4 ended up staying at x1, when I expected them to change to x8,x4, and x4 respectively. Which apparently means the HD...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

I spoke at length today with Digidesign tech support, and I think the problem has now been made officially known! We spoke about the Expansion Slot Utility, but they are not sure if this would have...
