Re: NF7-S or A7N8X - Another call for DWdrummer!!!

I also have an A7N8X, running a Barton 2800 at 400MHz, and yes, I do believe the voltages are settable individually, although bumping up the FSB was all I did to match the RAM bus speed.

I'll try...

Re: NEW DUC FAQ - 5.3.1 and beyond---

I would about bet the bank that unless your current cable is defective, using a longer cable would increase your chances of inducting more noise, not less. We had a computer at work recently that did...

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE

Hey Tim, welcome! It is a great computer for really low cost, isn't it? I have a hybrid of the 'Stein and it's a real joy to use.

Re: OT - A great one is Gone

Of all those who have passed in the last week, I shall miss Ray the most. There went one of a kind.

Re: Pro Tools 001 factory help!!!!

Good tip for those who have not yet lost theirs: consider insuring your little gem. I believe Rail suggested this not too long ago, and it sounds pretty good now.

Re: Free Protools crashes Windows 98 every time.

How do you mean, installing Windows 98 after XP? Did you put 98 on a separate partition, or did you do a complete reformat/reinstall, or ???

Re: How did you guys learn so much?

One thing that really helped my ears was to stop performing as a musician for long enough that I could hear songs from an overall perspective, instead of from the bass first then everything else...

Re: NEW DUC FAQ - 5.3.1 and beyond--- XP tune tip

Sure as I say the above I find something useful, for advanced users:

Preventing Windows from sending user/kernel mode drivers and code to page file.

If you have a considerable amount of RAM...

Re: Bomb Factory bundle for LE??? Bumbles away!

I have gotten great results with Maxim. Loud and clear... Still like it, and though it would be nice if Digi would include an L-2 in future bumbles, I don't think they have yet.

We aught to be...

Re: NEW DUC FAQ - 5.3.1 and beyond---

I sure would post some but so far haven't needed any. My best "tuning" advice is to build a stable screamingly fast machine with loads of RAM. Then it will run well and do a lot of stuff.

Re: Digi 001/Pro Tools LE & digitizing LP\'s

Yep. If the "receiver" or preamp has a usable Turntable input you're good to go.

Re: OT - My newly refinished bass

Kingfish- That's OK, because most of those do-it-yersef' jobs are awful...
-But our pal BRB, not being 'most people' ...has done a fine job with this 'conversion'.

Re: Computer Noise Reduction

Hey T.W.-

I haven't owned those, but DID build my own for an older Belch-Moo 4000, and it yielded a huge difference.

Now that I have built my own new ConFuser, the UniBlab Belchfire6000, the...

Re: Show us your Dual Video Monitor setups.

Doc- you have the 624's--- sweet. I like the way you have the rack stuff right there up front instead of off to the sides... good stuff.

Re: Upgrading from pc Mbox

Yeah, Assaf, I think Rail is right on the money. I have an AMD running at 2.4 GHz and 1 Gig of RAM -and a 20 track count is really not even exercising. No loss of key commands.

So assuming you...

Re: they\'re out!

It was a generous thing for Eric to drive the company into the ground with his ego and let Digi take over. Made my Milennium.

Re: NEW DUC FAQ - 5.3.1 and beyond---

Right. When you Create New, assign it to your second drive. That way, the files are written over there, while your System Drive is left alone to execute the application.
