Re: PCIx or PCIe to HDX excahnge?

I don't know why we haven't seen more of this logic... really makes sense to me. I guess to really compare apples to apples we'd have to compare what the boost in performance was going from a Mix...

Re: Just doing the math to upgrade to HDX

Are the prices really that much different than when we moved from Mix to HD? I think they are less actually. although I would have like to have seen a straight card for card swap! HD3 -> HDX3. I...

Process for revising a mix when given a new replacement OMF?

Hello,

Could anyone share their process when they are asked to revise a completed mix only because of picture changes to the visual which then creates the need to get a new replacement OMF for the...

Re: latency on VI's vs. buffer settings

I've always done some post work in Pro Tools but reserved my production and writing for Logic...now looking at PT as a possibility for a composition tool also. Anyway, i started doing some testing...

latency on VI's vs. buffer settings

question: is -playback- latency of virtual instruments affected by the RTAS buffer setting? like if I change the buffer setting from 256 to 1024 (with delay compensation on), will all my VI's play...

Re: VI's on Aux/Instrument tracks & ADC

Ok checking ADC with VI's in PT 9 right now....

I can't seem to get anything sample accurate. With ADC on, all VI audio is late in relation to my buffer setting it seems. Is that just how PT...

Re: Am I Missing Something. . . . . .

That doesn't sound right...

rtas buffer never affected TDM latency which is the i/o latency before afaik.

sounds like you are using the 192 as a core audio interface (PT Aggregate i think its...

Re: MAgma PE6R4 and Pro Tools 9 HD

that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

It was a PCI card but was contected to the card via cat5 cable. I remember people having lots of problems with those.

Re: MAgma PE6R4 and Pro Tools 9 HD

I do distinctly remember reading that the digi ethernet chassis from a few years ago added double the latency of your RTAS buffer setting.... ie: if you were at 512, and were playing a VI live, it...

Re: MAgma PE6R4 and Pro Tools 9 HD

Hi,

My 3 PCI-x HD cards are sitting very lonely in the unused G5...

What are the drawbacks of using this Magma box if any? Do I remember reading somewhere that the main difference was double...

Re: Adapter cards by PCI-X PCI-e! Does it work?

It looks like you have to remove the metal bracket from the PCI-x card...and then an open space in the adapter's bracket leaves room for the ports. very curious if it works!

Re: Keeping Laybacks in Sync (delay compensation and Video sync offset)

Just found this in the manual also:

Bounced Files Are Delay-Compensated
Pro Tools compensates for any bus and plug-in delays due to a bounce. This means that if a bounced file is imported back...

Re: Keeping Laybacks in Sync (delay compensation and Video sync offset)

I'm a bit perplexed by this also... it makes sense that if I have Delay Compensation on and I'm not exceeding the delay max (4095 samples at 48k) then my layback to QT should be in sync if PT is...

Re: Mixing...Making QT ref, need help with Delay Comp

OK, did a little RTFM....it says if you have a channel that exceeds the maximum, disable the delay reporting (command cntrl click on the ADC view in the MIX window channel)...and then manually nudge...

Mixing...Making QT ref, need help with Delay Comp

Hello,

Just started using PT9 HD. I'm mixing right now (using some RME hardware not my TDM cards) and it seems I can pretty easily surpass the Delay Compensation limit. I've been using Logic...
