Re: IO Limits? Changes in 2020?

I think we can all see it's Avid trying to socially distance themselves from their customers....

Re: IO Limits? Changes in 2020?

I doubt it was intended as flippant (Chris (Southside)) works in a serious commercial studio that uses UAD Apollo CoreAudio interfaces, that suffer from this limit). It's good advice. Use a different...

Re: Avis Link hogging CPU

Right, but the security concern is separate from performance. I would not let this junk into larger studios/media owner networks especially. And even with it removed there re still issues with core...

Re: Avis Link hogging CPU

It's an awfully implemented package of code. Stunning incompetently packaged, along with Cloud Collaboration, significant security concerns as shipped. I would not leave any of these components...

Re: Recordings not placed in timeline accurately

The big buffer(s) that might provide high latency are not in the interface and Pro Tools does not really need that reported by a driver... it's hopefully setting that value. Pro Tools normally...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

Great you got it working. I would not have thought about the clock setting hiding stuff like that in the UI. Does not seem like great UI design. Thanks for posting your fix here, that will help...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

I was replying to a different user in that other reply.

I am confused. Why would Focusrite say this is a Pro Tools issue.... you are talking about only problems understanding Focusrite Control...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

If you are having problems start a seperate thread and post details and you will get help. If you want to bypass the Eleven Rack DAC.. then sure you have to use two digital cables. But I caution,...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

Can you post screenshots for all the relevant Control pages.. (including the output page the most important one here)

What do you mean "show up". Do you just mean a "s/pdif" label it's not listed...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

That is absolutely not true. The Eleven Rack is perfectly able to be its own clock source.

Your quote from the manual, has nothing to do with the leap you are making above.

All this is...

Re: Recordings not placed in timeline accurately

As pointed out, looks like you are just seeing the IO buffer here.

What are you doing/recording when you have your actual problem? What IO buffer size are you using there? Measure the latency in...

Re: 11R S/PDIF not being seen by Focusrite Scarlett 18i20

You do not need to be using S/PDIF both ways. But if you do record S/PDIF Out on the Eleven Rack into the S/PDIF in on the 28i20 then you will need to clock off the S/PDIF in on the 18i20. Worry...

Re: Installed latest version, now no sound!

First thing to double check is what is the playback engine set to in pro tools. Not "hardware settings" but Setup>Playback Engine>Playback Engine.

Re: yet another cpu overload thread

In addition to systems details you also don't describe your interface, or the session sample rate, or what Disk Cache is set to. We also have no idea what drive you are recording to, a stupidly slow...

Yep Will is correct. What the frigging hell is wrong with this OWC guy. I sent you there hoping you would get quick easy help and not have somebody there waste your time. They are usually better than...

Re: I think I can use an ssd in my old cheesegrater

I would call up OWC and ask them. Their hardware pieces like this are usually pretty good.

Re: I think I can use an ssd in my old cheesegrater

For stuff as old as Tiger. No need to worry about trying to enable TRIM, just connect up the SSD and install OS X on it and get going.

I would spend some time trying to find old install media...

Re: I think I can use an ssd in my old cheesegrater

You need the correct adapter for the old Mac Pro. The clueless twits at Best Buy sold you a genetic 3.5" to 2.5" adapter tray that will not work, not designed to make any connectors line up, designed...

Re: I think I can use an ssd in my old cheesegrater

Yep. Those upgrades are not an option if you want to keep running HD/TDM rigs.

What OS X are you running? ... for enabling trim on that SSD.

Re: I think I can use an ssd in my old cheesegrater

More info would help. What exact model Mac Pro? Model number or even better EMC code. What exact OS are you running/upgrading to (affects what drives are supported and recommendations for trim...

Re: Need help on probably an easy question on outputs.

Several things

I goofed recalling there was an analog out on the Eleven Rack, so no you don't have another analog pair to use for a dedicated cue mix. You can use the Digital Out (AES/EBU S/PDIF)...

Re: Need help on probably an easy question on outputs.

I am not sure what you mean by "Eleven Handle these cleanly".

cleanly as in not distorted?

Eleven is a plugin, Eleven Rack is the hardware unit, are you talking about the plugin at all here?

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

OK great, will be stonking fast compared to SATA etc. but to restate my earlier point that is a x8 card so if you have a x16 slot in your new Mac free you are giving up some performance.

Re: New Mac Pro (7.1)

Yes, but the Evo Plus really does not give any benefit over the Evo and folks were scared off after previous problems (which were fixed) with those drives. So I generally just don't mention them.
