Re: Pro Tools in virtual machine

Suggestion:
When you get things back up and running buy Carbon Copy Cloner, an external hard drive, and make regular backups of your system. It'll save your butt in cases like this. Don't use Time...

Re: Is there AAX compatible software comparable to Vienna Ensemble, to offload CPU us

It's actually simple to find out things online about VE Pro. First place you should visit is the VSL site itself; also make Google your friend. YouTube also has videos on VEPro.

Basically you...

Re: Permanent License Lost?

The renewal for non-Ultimate doubled earlier this year from $99 to $199. This has been well talked about here and elsewheres.

Re: Horrible VI performance when recording in 2019.10!

I don't know where you get insulting in what I wrote but I don't play any games. I'm a straight-shooter. Believe me when I say I could have said a lot more but I didn't. And I won't - that should...

Re: Horrible VI performance when recording in 2019.10!

Wasn't PT 12 supposed to be better than PT 11 performance-wise? I took it back one more PT level than you did to prove a point that performance in 2019.6 is better than previous versions. If you...

Re: Horrible VI performance when recording in 2019.10!

Here's one of those things where I'm going to dispute you. When I jumped from PT 11.3.2 on the 2012 cheesegrater in my profile to PT 2019.6 and then 2019.10 I found I could use WAY more plugins at the...

Re: Horrible VI performance when recording in 2019.10!

But not for PT 11 and above as that's when being able to set the number of cores manually went away.

Re: Pro Tools missing V9 plugins from Waves after updating Waves Central

I already mentioned how to keep a working clone on an external drive - you use Carbon Copy Cloner to do the job. Much better than using Time Machine. And don't leave the external drive powered on...

Re: Horrible VI performance when recording in 2019.10!

TNM:
Thanks for the explanation. I don't have all that much left in outboard analog gear. Mostly vi's. But yeah - I came up with the old tape-based stuff decades ago. But this old dog has learned to...

Is there any real, legitimate reason you work at such a low buffer?

Re: Pro Tools missing V9 plugins from Waves after updating Waves Central

You might want to delete everything Waves and then reinstall everything. Don't forget to empty your Trash. You're going to need the offline installer for your W9 plugins - the job can't be done from...

Re: Anyone know the exact path to delete temp files that PT puts in the drive?

Thanks for the answer to my question about TM. I know about CCC creating snapshots it was what happens (or doesn't) native to High Sierra as regards snapshots.

Re: System Upgrade to High Sierra - firmware update backwards compatible to Mavericks

I still put my samples on their own drive. Would never want to mix system stuff and samples and session on the same drive. Makes maintenance easier for me with things on separate drives. Also if the...

Re: Anyone know the exact path to delete temp files that PT puts in the drive?

I saw both of those links in my research but neither one explicitly answered the question: do you have to have Time Machine enabled to have snapshots created? When I look in Activity Monitor it...

Re: Does anyone else have issues with codemeter on OS X?

Avenger just went to codemeter copy protection with the 1.5 update. Previously it was a keyfile type of thing. The reason they went with codemeter was that the previous version of Avenger got hacked...

Re: Anyone know the exact path to delete temp files that PT puts in the drive?

Thanks for the link. I'm a little confused - do snapshots only get created if you have Time Machine running? Tried researching this and i get a headache

Re: System Upgrade to High Sierra - firmware update backwards compatible to Mavericks

I could if I had to but I really didn't have to do that. Don't know why I would have to do that anyways - my PT session files are on a separate internal spinner. I don't have that setup anymore as...

Re: Interface advice for Native

The DVS will run over regular ethernet but as I'm saying you don't get the full benefits of the Dante system running that way. You need their special interface card. That's what you're missing.

An...

Re: System Upgrade to High Sierra - firmware update backwards compatible to Mavericks

The firmware update won't interfere with being able to dual-boot. Let me understand: your machine currently is flashed to act as a 5.1 right? You do know that going to High Sierra will also change...

Re: navigating inst. patches from keyboard

Not that I know of. Besides not every vi exposes it's patch change to the outside world. And even if it did you'd be stuck with whatever patch is next or previous - you wouldn't be able to jump...

Re: PT 2019 + El Capitan/OSX 10.11?

I don't know why people still try and use El Crapitan as it's the worst OSX Apple has delivered.

Re: Interface advice for Native

Never said anything about reliability or latency. To get the full benefit of what Dante can do you need their specific Ethernet interface card. A generic Ethernet will do but there are limits. Using...

Re: Will Avid ever add folders and why keep BS'ing about fixes that aren't there?

Sonar was quite good when I ran with it decades ago on one of my ancient Windows machines. And there's the rub: you either have to run a Winbox or use Bootcamp and Windows on a Mac. When Gibson owned...

Re: Interface advice for Native

Dante doesn't run at full speed with a built-in Ethernet connection. Apparently they use some kind of additions to regular Ethernet networking h/w & s/w that don't run at full capable speed on garden...
