Re: In the box mixing technique for web series on a budget

I think the questions by the OP can be interpreted differently, depending on how you want to read into it. Perhaps he's just looking to dabble with some web videos and is just looking for a few tips...

Re: Getting Practice with Sound Design/ Soundtracks..??

So you've been given the real world obstacles, so I'll stay clear of that. Here's what I suggest.

1. Network with local filmmakers, tv producers, etc. Go to any networking events, film festivals,...

Re: Avid\'s Satellite Video Station???

I saw the version they had running at NAB. Seems like they were still working some things out. Could be cool, but will require another computer. If you are already using something like VVTR, it seems...

Re: The Sound of Pro Tools

I'm finding that when I go back and listen to mixes I've done that I wished I had backed off the plugins a bit and used the good old faders more. Live and learn I suppose. I started in the Pro Tools...

Re: A Quicktime problem affecting my use of ProTools

MPEG Streamclip also has many other very useful features. Well worth the investment ($0) and should work out perfectly for you.

Re: pro tools 8.0 coming soon?

Okay, the video part is probably true, but it's not being phrased right. More and more LE users are getting into doing audio for video and Digi will probably address those needs, as well as continue...

Re: sub-$1000.00 Monitors - suggestions please

Interesting. I have had my eyes on a Blue Sky System One for a while now, but the Adam A7s have peaked my interest. Currently, I have a Tannoy Reveal Active system alongside some Avantones. The...

Mark, although you sometimes scare the $#&t out of me with some of your posts (a lot of times you are right on the money, just I picture this 7 foot tall, hulk of a guy who might break me in half) I...

Re: Plug-in \"enable all\" automation parameters

I tend to activate all automation parameters because I like the flexibility in tweaking, but the efficient way to do it would be to activate only the parameters you know you will use. I run pretty...

Re: Help & Advice needed for Audio only guy..

I may not be reading your post correctly, but are you just looking to get the audio from the Avid editors? If that is the case, then they simply export an OMF or AAF to you and Pro Tools will have no...

Re: dv toolkit 2, worth the money? US to UK compatible?

In my opinion, it's vital for doing extensive post work. There are workarounds without it, but you'll be better off with it. Find a copy for as cheap as you possibly can. Just make sure you match the...

Re: 16-core Macs/ Pro Tools HD\'s Future?

Maybe, but don't underestimate HD's power. I run both LE and HD3 and even though I have fast Mac that I run LE, there are some things the TDM system handles really well. Asking the computer to do it...

Re: Massey L2007 settings

Depends on material, but I do find that I use these settings often.

Loud, Normal, -10(ceiling), and -12 to-15 threshold

I have had things that sounded better when using

Re: Music prod V. Post prod monitoring - does a chasm exsist

After talking with some of the experienced mixers like Marti Humphrey, here's what I have come away with.

1. Identify what it is you want to mix in the room. If features for theatrical release,...

Re: Sound Devices 744T files and post/Avid/FCP/ProTools

Re: Sound Devices 744T files and post/Avid/FCP/ProTools
