Re: Earthworks.....fact or fiction?

fiction.

I thought they sounded like total crap!

I noticed they boosted the volume on their own tracks for that "psychological edge" too...

My 3 mic setup kicks their butt, and comes in at...

Re: Digi001 vs. LynxTwo card: Hold on to your hats

You're talking about listening through the Tascam's headphone/monitor out, right?

So is their DA lame, or does importing the file into Protools "enhance" it in some way(make it sound better)?

Digi001 vs. LynxTwo card: Hold on to your hats!!

I purchased a LynxTwo ADA card, with LS-ADAT option card to basically upgrade the converters in my Digi001 by clocking the Digi001 via ADAT to the LynxTwo.

I'm finding out that the Digi001'a AD...

Re: My first Protools Mix :)

EyeCBatty,

This is your first protools mix? Sounds great! Are you using a Digi001, Digi002, or an MBox?

Couldn't help noticing you were trying to sell a 192 I/O and an HD core on the "Buy and...

Re: Best way to record Acoustic drums..

You can always submix the drums through a mixer, and then run a stereo out from the mixer to the Mbox's two ins. This would give you a lot more flexibility. Any small mixer like the Mackie 1202VLZ...

Re: When is it time to quit?

Silence,

You're not alone...there are a lot of people I'm sure on the DUC and elsewhere that are in a similar situation. I can speak for myself and say that finding another employer and a...

Re: LynxTwo card and Digi001...it works!

I'm using the LynxTwo "C" version. It's 6 in, 2 out. The Lynx One is a good card, but the LynxTwo is the latest model and an improvement over the Lynx one.

Using the card is almost transparent-...

LynxTwo card and Digi001...it works!

Hi all-

I've recently upgraded my A-D and D-A converters by integrating a LynxTwo C card into my DIGI001 setup. I'm doing this using Lynx's optional LS-ADAT card, which enables me to link via ADAT...

Re: Killer kick sound

Sounds like you may be trying to get a 22" kick sound out of a 20" kick drum. You'll have to tweak with the EQ a little to get the sound you're looking for. Do a major cut at the low mid frequencies...

Thanks Skip,

I wasn't planning to use the RME with the Lynx- but thanks for the info.

Re: Lynx Two and Digi001?

What I meant was using the Lynx Two as a converter only, sending ADAT into the Digi001, exactly like hooking up an external converter like the RME ADI -8. Only difference being that the Lynx happens...

Re: New Song Done On 001 (PT.2) #SINGLE#

BTW - You're using the Presonus Digimax AND the RME ADI-8 for drums?

Just wondering why you need both.

Re: Searching for new overheads

I recommend Octava MC/MK012's for overheads.

Speaking of phase cancellation, it's my understanding that phasing can occur on the mic diaphragm ITSELF...which is why small diaphragm condensers are...

Recording a 20" kick drum:

Don't adjust the beater on the kick pedal so that it hits dead center on the kick drum head.
It actually sounds better slightly off center(1-2" above) with this size...

Anyone have any experience with these? How do they compare? They were recommended highly to me by a reputable sound engineer last night.

Tip #3:

To get a homemade "sizzle" cymbal, scotch tape some pennies to the ride cymbal. Apply a 2" tape strip to the ride cymbal, with the last...

Re: drumset recording tips

Here's another one:

When EQ'ing overheads, rolling off the lows starting at 100-120hz can really clean up the sound. It takes away any boominess or muddiness, but still leaves enough for the toms...
