Re: Ctrl Key Doesn't Work

Yes, if you watch the underlining on the menu bar, you'll notice (with every application by the way, not just PT) that the underlining of the menu item shortcurts appears as soon as you press Alt....

Re: Ctrl Key Doesn't Work

Thanks. At least I don't feel alone anymore. That bug exists for years or even decades and is annoying as hell.

Re: Ctrl Key Doesn't Work

I just edited my previous post. On non-German keyboards, it's Alt+= (for "MIDI Event List"). Pressing it twice revives my dead shortcuts somehow.

My guess is that the fix lies in the fact that a...

Re: 2019.10 dropped

The release notes of these updates make me feel as if I am paying a yearly fee for bug fixing.

Re: Ctrl Key Doesn't Work

Whenever I switch from PT to another application and back, some shortcuts (all with ctrl key, like switch edit/mix, split clip etc.) don't work anymore.
Pressing Alt-+ (this is on my German...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

The Platinum bundle does not offer much above what comes stock with PT. But there are some plugins that could deserve some attention:
- To me, all digital EQ plugins sound pretty much the same, but...

Re: The faders in my mix are frequently above 0. Is that a problem.

A good habit would be that you keep your individual track levels within the green and lower yellow areas (see the track meters). It does not matter where your fader is at, it matters where your...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts (like switching mix/edit windows) stop working

It's 2017 now and the problem still exists...
PT 12.7.1 now, the rest of my computer is the same.
In the mid of pretty much each session, some keyboard shortcuts just stop working. The most...

Re: Where is 12.8?

Yep. Something as easy and obvious like when you've selected ALL tracks by clicking and dragging across the top timeline, it would move the markers as well.

Or be able to include markers in edit...

Re: Auto mute tracks when recording only

Plus, unlinked faders work nicely for giving the vocalist a louder level on the headphones while recording without setting up a completey independent headphone mix.

Re: More AAE -9173 Errors, At Wits End!

While the issue disappeared for me with newer versions, what helped me back then was:
- Completely remove any instance of the Click II plugin. Sounds weird, but it's documented to be of massive...

Re: New RME UFX Crackling Audio [SOLVED]

I don't remember what the exact issue was, but I disabled the internal soundcard completely (in the BIOS) to fix it.

Re: Activity at 1 or 2 % on 7 out of 8 Core

Each plugin is assigned to a single core. So if you had a session with just a single plugin that would use 90% of a single core on an 8-core system, one core would show 90% utilization and all others...

Re: MIDI Production PT 12 Impossible

I am having most of the problems OP is experiencing, too. Very annoying. And I am on a Windows machine with completely different specs, so these are simply Pro Tools bugs - which are present for far...

Re: Please help rating older I7-3770 processor's "power" for PT12

For track-based plugins, I can always freeze tracks with the excellent freezing and commit system in PT (like "freeze up to this insert") if needed.

For Aux-based plugins, it's a little trickier,...

Re: Latency with Steven Slate sgear Amp sim

You can let PT show the amount of delay induced by the plugins on each track. Ctrl-click (iirc) on the little text near the faders in the mix view that says "vol" until it shows "dly". Or check the...

Re: Please help rating older I7-3770 processor's "power" for PT12

This shows that the CPU-intensive plugin(s) are NOT on the tracks you've frozen/deactivated.

What happens if you deactivate FG-X on your master? I found it to be a huuuuuuuge CPU-hog.

Re: PT12: Can I store sessions on Hard Drive?

That recommendation from Avid is like how old? Decades or what? What has been the average drive speed back then?
Modern drives, especially SSDs, are so fast that you don't have to care where to put...

Re: Please help rating older I7-3770 processor's "power" for PT12

What do you see on the system usage meter when you start playing the project? Do the individual cores start to overload or is there just a single spike that goes through the roof?
And just to rule...

Re: Please help rating older I7-3770 processor's "power" for PT12

Well then just go for the fastest Core i7 CPU (Intel Core i7-6900K and up), most RAM (16 GB min) and fastest SSDs you can get. A machine with these specs should give you about 2x the performance of...

Re: Best Backup Software?

If your external backup drive is connected via USB 2.0, your theoretical maximum transfer speed is 57 MB/s. The real-life transfer speed with these kind of drives is closer to 20 MB/s.
If you are...
