You need to add the input and output latency to compare RTL. When you do that, youíre at 3 times the quoted HDX figure.

Slate urges against early odoption of new MacOS.

If thatís your hesitation, then I can put your mind at rest. Upgrading a partition to APFS will do absolutely nothing to your other HFS partition. My studio computer has an SSD with two partitions -...

Re: Slate urges against early odoption of new MacOS.

But itís a firmware update for the hardware in his Mac, so regardless of the individual drives and partitions, it will globally affect his system.

However, I have never heard of a FW update...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

No it was well before then. I had it on an original MBox. The one with the Focusrite mic pres. It was a portable secondary rig I had.

It definitely was before PT9 as once that came about, I jumped...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

Months to fix the noise blasts? More like years!!

I saw that bug pop up in various different releases spanning a few years. IIRC when I had that happen on my rig, it was around the PT8 era....

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

Well if weíre going to go that far back, we should also point out that there were many CS releases that were essentially small updates to fix certain bugs that were deemed high priority.

One could...

iMac and SSD. USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt 2?

A word of caution using APFS on external work drives.

If youíre using it solely on your system, no problem. But, if you plan on using this drive on another system that is running an older Mac OS,...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

Agreed.

People have a right to voice their opinion about something like this.

I wonder if people will be yawning if the price doubles again next year or if they start to encounter issues with...

Re: Are we not due an update??!!

Iím sorry, but that really isnít the case at all. No other developer has the issues that AVID have with OS updates.

Yes, itís is extremely old code base but honestly, thereís apps out there that...

It is extremely tiring seeing defense for a company that quite frankly, is...

Re: Much slower offline bounce in 2019 vs 2018?

Thatís the thing. Some plugins will severely slow down your bounce times. Basically, the more CPU a plugin consumes, the slower the bounce time.

I can get close to 70-80x bounce speed on a lot of...

Can you recommend an EQ that color nicely

Yeah itís the Hammer 2.

I actually had both. The second revision added the detented pots which I really needed for ease of recall, but they also added shelving filters on both the high and low...

Re: Will there be an Avid S2

A thought. Do you absolutely need the Dock? Could you just have the S1 plus a tablet?

You lose the jog wheel and transport, but you have knobs and faders on the S1 and aside from the jog wheel,...

Re: Can you recommend an EQ that color nicely

Valve based, dual stereo, detented pots.

Mine is part of my mastering rig, but I chose it because I wanted a broad strokes EQ that was musical.

The hardware I chose for...

Re: Will there be an Avid S2

Doesnít the new PT Control app support Android now? If so, thereís no reason you have to use an iPad with the S1. You could just use a cheap Android tablet.

The dock is a different story as that...
