I own both and prefer the Dock as it allows more control, the touchscreens of modern pads are bigger and better and it has better built quality.

When Carbon tracks are in DSP Mode some of the DSP chips are used for the Mixer. I checked back with a screenshot I made a few weeks ago when I tested Carbon.

Native only plugs are bypassed when DSP mode is activated but you can exclude plugs from bypassing. The standard example is a reverb plug on an aux track: You leave it in native mode via excluding it...

You’re right. I tested for tracking and maxed out the DSPs with the following:
24 Avid Channelstrips (on all inputs)
4 Sends on each channel to the headphones
5 Avid Pro Limiter, one on the Mix...

I guess the new Avid Carbon might be a perfect substitute for your studio. The hybrid engine is excellent for recording thanks to HDX DSPs and native processing while mixing.

What works for me on a Mac mini (Intel) 2018 is to connect Carbon to the built-in Ethernet and use a USB-C hub with an integrated Ethernet for Internet and Eucon devices.

They integrated ARA silently but gave “Audio to Midi” only to us so far. I’m pretty sure the rest of the ARA features will follow bit by bit. Just to make some of the coming releases a little more...
