Ha.

The 002 is in a rack so I couldn't view it straight on --- the solution was to plug into the alt SRC instead of the alt monitors. Dumb. Thanks for the responses though as it got me thinking...

1) pro tools is NOT being used with a sound card. the 002 and PTLE work fine.

This happened to me after I installed Windows XP service pack 2 - it was annoying and frustrating. As soon as I uninstalled SP2 and reinstalled SP1 the problems were gone.

Sure. Make sure not to miss the fact that this was the lowest end single processor Mac. The dual G5s have MUCH, MUCH better performance.
