I had this problem but I can get around it by dragging the file I want from the desktop into the multitrack window and onto the track I want it on

Thanks dave. I ended up trying the demo version and everything worked well with that. I could record using expand2 and B-33 so it had to be a setting in the page i was working in, so i saved the demo...
