Re: Dual boot/clone question

Thank you so much for the elaborate response, Darryl!

Of course the best thing to do would have been buying a new machine.. but that’s financially impossible right now.

I do have some learning...

PT 2018 do I need more RAM?

Hey all,

I've been on the upgrade plan since 2016, but did not upgrade because I stayed on ML 10.8.5. Finally tomorrow I am going to do a fresh install of HS on my Hackintosh.

I see now that...

Re: Newbi in mixing

As said before, it is pretty much in the recording - type of drums and tuning, the room, the drummer, microphones and placement, preamps/console etc.

Nowadays, a lot of the recorded drum sounds...

Unlimited web support - HOW?

Hey everyone,

When upgrading to PT12 with annual upgrade and support plan, you get standard support, which gets you one call per month and unlimited web support.

I've been trying for 2 days to...

Re: Pro Tools 12.4 Advanced Meter Type Settings

I think that only the K meters are fixed.

I also noticed that the ballistics behave a little differently than the K meter I was used to (Blue Cat DP-4). A mix that hovered around the 0dB, is now...

Re: $599 for what you received in the last year?

I just decided to stay on PT 10 forever. It works great for me, I need nothing more to record, mix and produce music, and I don't care even if Avid will invent the DAW over again. I honestly don't...

Re: PT10 (and up) mouse

I've been using it for almost 5 years now, it is very comfortable, especially when you need to move quickly around the screen (from side to side/up/down), or when scrolling through lots of plugins or...

Re: Never Touch the Faders???

The point is to get your tracks recorded at roughly the level they're going to be in the mix, while the faders are at unity.

This way, every level change needed will be no more than +-5 dB's.

Re: Elastic Audio is Phase Shifting with Multiple Grouped Tracks

If I have only two tracks (say a dual mic electric guitar setup), I fly these two tracks onto a stereo track, using EA, consolidating and then bring them back onto two mono tracks.

On drums you...

Re: Volume of bounced file not as loud as original

I don't remember if there is a "mono - summed" bounce option in earlier versions, that's why I wanted to see which options he tried in the bounce dialogue..

Bouncing a mono sum should result in...

Re: Volume of bounced file not as loud as original

Please upload a screenshot of the mixer at the time of the bounce with a master fader,

Re: How do I prepare levels for mastering?

I think that the major issue here is lowering the master fader to give some headroom vs. lowering the individual elements of the mix.

If I understand correctly, your peak level on the master bus...

Re: From Creation to Final Mix - Tutorial & Session Files

Anyone who would think of posting some half ass job over there is missing the whole point, and might win a copy of PT 11, but will lose a very valuable lesson. Of course, not all of the mixes sound...

Re: From Creation to Final Mix - Tutorial & Session Files

Just a minor note about that, I saw that some guys assume it's a mix contest. I thought so too, until I read the conditions..

You should, as we all do, try your best to get the best mix you can at...

Re: How to clear up orchestral mix

First of all, it actually is better than you feel it is.

I would suggest isolating the tracks in question, eq'ing them AND automating them so they sound as you want them to sound by themselves.

Re: Mixing Tips Needed

Even though lack of dynamic range does harm the music in terms of the sound quality, I've noticed that it is still has a relatively minor effect on the overall impression of it.

Re: Playback only in mono

Not enough information here, but I will guess that you have tried to record a mono source through a mono input to a stereo track (with no apparent reason). You can either:

rotate both pan knobs of...

Re: How to bounce a project into separate, sequential, seamless tracks?

Oh, forgot to say that the HOFA CD & DDP that I recommended earlier is downloadable as a demo that's fully functional for 14 days (including DDP).

So after you're finished mastering your project...
