D/A better on 888/24 or Presonus Central Station?

We're toying with the idea of getting the Presonun Central Station, and see that it has the onboard D/A SPDIF converters.

I was curious if using the Presonus converters would be any better than...

What\'s the difference btwn DVD-R and DVD-RAM?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I've seen mention of people backing up archives on DVD-R's or RW's.

And I've also seen people talking about DVD-RAM.

What's the difference?

Thanks...

Re: Pod Pro Digital outputs to 888/24?

Now am I getting confused?

Do I NEED a clock line from the 888/24 to the Pod Pro? I understand that the 888 is putting out super clock and the Pod Pro is using word clock so a converter would...

Re: Pod Pro Digital outputs to 888/24?

Thanks for the input-

I called Line6 as well and finally got through to someone about this.

I guess if you hold the "Cabs/Eq" and "Manual" buttons down while rotating the "Compression" dial it...

Pod Pro Digital outputs to 888/24?

We just brought into the studio our new Bass Pod Pro and would like to use the digital outs of the AES/EBU or SPDIF.

Anyone else doing this? We can't seem to get the thing to work. The manual...

Re: Wiring for headphones?

you're right- it's been a while since I incorporated the unit into our rack and patch bay. The aux inputs are unbalanced.

Since the aux inputs are on the front of the unit, I mounted it...

Re: Wiring for headphones?

The inputs are servo-balanced which will accept either balanced or unbalanced lines with no problem.

Great unit for the money. We have one in our studio as well- have no regrets owning it for...

Re: Wiring for headphones?

I don't see a problem with putting different jack ports on the same line- even IF they are used at the same time. The Behringer unit can drive 3 sets of headphones off of each channel (maybe...

I can't comment on the other two units you mentioned since I have not used either, but I own a Distressor and absolutley love it. It's the most verstatile compressor that I have ever used- and it...

Re: Getting rid of our Mixing Boards? Philosophical question.

We went 'boardless' when we started with PT about 3 years ago.

Financially we opted to put the $$$ into more DSP cards, plugins, mics, pre's, etc, instead of getting a HUI or PronControl or...

Re: How do you mix drums?

I really like GREAT kick and snare sounds (who doesn't, right?)- and I'm a drummer so I get very nit-picky about the sound.

On a recent project I used my 13"x4" steel snare that has a great tone...

Re: What\'s the difference between Track Transfer and Import/Convert?

JE-

But you can use the "import AND convert" command to actually make a copy of the audio into the destination session. It won't make a track for you, but it will be placed in the audio regions...

What\'s the difference between Track Transfer and Import/Convert?

I know that with Track Transfer you can have all the plugin and automation values along with the auido files copied, but other than that- Is there a quality difference betweent the two?

If I want...

Re: Mini disc recorders for field recordings

We just ordered the HHB MDP500 and should have it by the end of the week (hopefully).

Looks like a very nice unit from what I've seen so far. We opted for the MD over the Tascam Dat recorder. ...

Enhancers/exciters- BBE or Aphex? Plugins?

Just wondering if any of you ever use the BBE or Aphex as a subtle "additive" when mastering a mix?

Is there a plugin that resembles the use of these two boxes?

I have good mixes going, but...

Re: Anyone use the new Control24?

Are we talking with a HUI or ProControl? Without having the luxury of neither, I guess we're averaging about 15-18 hours per song.
