Who said anything about buying plugins again? So far, almost every company who is porting plugs to AAX is doing it for free, or as part of their normal upgrade structure. You shouldn't have to re-buy...

I completely agree with your point, but where are you reading that Avid says it's impossible? "Will not support 64-bit" does not denote they are implying impossibility.

Don't get me wrong, I love all the new features that have shown up in Pro Tools, going back to EA. Clip Gain is a real time saver, ADC is nice, and interface freedom was the best move Avid ever made....

Companies are writing AAX versions just as they have for every other version. Does a company charge you for making a VST version or AU version of an already existing plugin? They don't,...

There's nothing to say that if RTAS stays, AAX can't be used. The point is that there is no reason to. A bridge will have to be created. Of course 32 bit AAX plugs can exist at the same time as 64...

If RTAS stays... Then VIs stay 32 bit, too.

AAX is only 32 bit for Pro Tools 10. If you want to access all of your RAM, then you need to ditch RTAS.

Right.

Incompatible/dated plugins can also be a plague on your CPU usage. Plenty of people able to instantiate hundreds of plugins in a session without CPU spikes.

Logic doesn't support VSTs... ;)

We all know Pro Tools is never going to support AU or VST for the same reasons that Logic doesn't support VST, and Cubase doesn't support AU. This horse is nothing...
