Maybe relevant, I just remembered disabling C1E in the bios at the same time. I should have taken notes. That may also have had some affect, no?

Yeah, maybe the drive idea was a stretch. sorry. I personally only thought of it thinking that 8.0.3 had issues with certain HDD controllers, but I may have jumped the gun if this is a clocking issue...

also, I don't think it's sata, eSATA, or the lot, I'm wondering if it's the controller that's screwing things up with PT. Firewire controllers do it, so why couldn't a HDD controller have issues with...

I couldn't tell you why they would possibly have anything to do with each other, but I compared my "Static White Noise" with what people posted (audio files) and they were the same. My only thought...

ok, just checking, my error was identified by digi and m-audio as a clock issue and it went away with the change in hdd (from eSATA to internal SATA on a different controller.) I just wanted to see...

Just out of curiosity, what is your audio drive, (type and Manufacture etc.) and what HDD controller is it using. My white noise bursts were from my eSATA controller, I googled the controller type...

My problem wasn'treally the drive more the esata controller I think although my wd drives seem to take extra time to analyze audio after each recorded pass.
