Re: When to let it go????

Reality check; Mixes are never finished....they are only abandoned:o:o:o

My 2 cents, if its a client, its not done till they are happy, but after revision #3, I charge for further revisions(rev #9...

Re: Backup regimen in Windows

I use Acronis True Image(but Macrium and Backupper also work well) and I keep a 2TB USB drive that holds nothing but backup images of the system drive. I also usually only keep the most recent 3 or...

Re: Another "Pro Tools crashing" issue

1-Time to make a new template:D

2-the buffer is an allowance of time(in samples) for the computer to process the audio. Big buffer means the computer gets more time to complete processing(more...

Re: mono -> stereo. How to do it in PT?

It really depends on what the end goal is. Making a mono sound have width is tricky(at best) and some things might not translate well if the final mix gets played back on a mono system(the track...

Re: Another "Pro Tools crashing" issue

Upping the buffer can help a lot but at the expense of latency. If tracking is finished, then this is not an issue, so pushing the buffer to 1024(or higher if available) will lighten the cpu load a...

Re: USB C or Thunderbolt interface

For "tape warmth", use a tape machine plugin on your tracks. Most can be demoed, so check out options from Waves, Slate and any others you can find. Remember to look at the plugin's "analog" settings...

Re: I have a Pro Tools problem and was unable to get proper phone support

Hmmm, not a PTF user here, but I would try to create a SESSION instead of a PROJECT. A project is in the cloud, while a session is only on your computer:o

Re: Question about Avid warranties (purchasing a used S3)

Here's what I know:
Hardware(including S3) have a 1 year warranty(so a used S3 may be out of warranty already)
For the warranty to remain effective for the full year, the seller would need to;...

Re: I have a Pro Tools problem and was unable to get proper phone support

So what exactly is the problem? Maybe someone here can help(but we need to know what's going on and complete details on the computer and the interface):o

Re: Greyed out faders

Guessing here because the screen capture shows SOME tracks, or is it showing ALL)? If all tracks are grey, then the output path is invalid. The first guess is that the "audio engine"(Setup>Hardware)...

Re: Zoom R16 - CAN work with Protools 8 as Controller

You really should start your own thread as this thread is not related well. Pro Tools 8 does NOT work with R16 or any USB microphone. I am guessing you are using a newer version of Pro Tools and the...

Re: Replacing Tubes In Tube Mics?

Just my thoughts on this. Some depends on what tube they use in the mic. Years ago, my first tube mic was the MXL V69 Mogami and that used a 12AT7, which can be found most anywhere and from several...

Re: XMon Hookup Question

Hmmm, thought for sure that someone would have weighed in by now. I know the OMNI can do the 7.1 output scheme, but you would need to read the manual to find out if that can bypass the volume knob....

Re: S3 vs Two S1's

The only thing to keep in mind is; the reviews are probably from people that use tablets for stuff that doesn't matter to us and those comments might be mostly unimportant(reliability would matter,...

Re: Midi Mapping Plugin Automation

Not sure it can be done as most plugins don't offer Midi Learn(VI plugins like DB33 and MiniGrand do). The nOb is a neat option but might considered pricey:o

Re: PT Crashing when I try to open a particular session

You'll need to try that again as that is the command. Maybe its just bad timing? In any case, with PT open, hold SHIFT and double-click the session .ptx icon and keep holding SHIFT until the session...

Re: Any suggestions for a reliable inexpensive interface for Pro Tools Win 10?

Using 1 interface for both Pro Tools AND Windows audio can be a mixed bag(depending on the driver). Personally, I keep the two separate by choice, and have for 15 years. My setup includes a...

Re: Any suggestions for a reliable inexpensive interface for Pro Tools Win 10?

I'd give ASIO4ALL a try as you have nothing to lose. For replacing it, since you have firewire on your PC, a used 003rack is a great bargain(prices are all over the map but I bought 2 of them for...

Hmmmm, question #1-is your counter set to show Bars:Beats? Are you in GRID mode(blue highlight) and not in Relative Grid mode(purple highlight)? Any real-time midi offset enabled?

Re: Pro tools and controllers

Under $200 shrinks the list:
Used Command 8(usually costs more but Ben found a deal:D)
Behringer BCF2000 (under $200)
Original Presonus Faderport(under $100)(only one fader, but very useful)

A...
