Re: Pro Tools vs. Paris Pro

Pro Tools vs. Paris Pro

I chose Pro Tools. Why? Because:

A) there is a 'buzz' amongst musicians and producers regarding Pro Tools and songs being "Pro Tool'ed" It's the 'in' thing to do.

An Extra 4 Pixels!!!

What I'm referring to is the space (or lack of) which separates tracks in the Edit window. It just makes the whole screen sorta cluttered. If only 4 pixels were added between each track, it'd make...

Re: plugins vs hardware

Quality outboard processing retains it's value and can/will still be used in 20 years. Will TDM plug-in "XYX" be supported in 20 years? Make the right investment.

Is the Search Engine on Continuous Loop?!

Digi...I tried to use the 'search engine' today...after 15 minutes I stopped it. It continually looped and updated the page. The archives never took this long to search.

Re: Peak 2.5 or Spark or...?

Spark 2.0 XL was announced at NAMM.

I still prefer Peak.

Re: Peak 2.5 or Spark or...?

We use Peak TDM with an E-mu E5000Ultra. The SMDI implementation works faultlessly. ("Mac on SCSI bus"...you gotta love that!)

Re: petition-we need altivec

OS X supports AltiVec at it's core.

I thought I made this point clear. "OS X, which supports AltiVec at it's OS core."

In other words, applications do not have to be specifically written to...

Re: Peak 2.5 or Spark or...?

I'd go for Peak. Why? When you perform an edit with Spark, unless you turn off "no undos," it has to write the original file to disk, make the edit, write it to a temp area and redraw the overview...

Re: Control24 fader resolution?

For ProControl or Control|24 to be compatible with Logic, Emagic would have to adapt the 10BT protocol that Digi uses for communication with their mixers. I can't see Emagic doing this, as they are...

Re: petition-we need altivec

What would be the point? The next major release for PT will be 6.0. And, by the time it comes out, it will probably be released for OS X, which supports AltiVec at it's OS core. So, there really...

Re: Is Lexiverb good as a PCM 480?

I'd like to put my vote in for the Quantec 2402 Yardstick. Absolutely the best natural sounding verb I have yet to hear...much more so then the 480L.

As for plug-ins...Lexiverb and RealVerb do...

Re: Convince Me That 5.1 Surround Is A Benefit

Furthermore, virus scanning software or any other such...

Re: Digi Hard drive question

The one that's in your G4 is fine.

If you haven't done so already, you might consider partitioning your drive and dedicating a partition to Pro Tools Sessions & Audio files. If you do this, be...

Re: how do you synch protools with logic?

To sync Logic to PT: Set Pro Tools as the master and have Logic receive MTC via OMS/IAC. You can control the start/stop via both.

To avoid drop-outs: make sure you have the same frame-rate...
