Re: Question about sound interfaces

If my problem could be handled with just a longer USB cable, I would consider that a more than acceptable solution (I think). Just one question:

I've used longer USB cables with sound interfaces...

Re: Question about sound interfaces

Yes, I understand that to many, this setup seems complicated. But it's actually quite simple. In the application I typically run to record voiceover (Twisted Wave), I can simply select one audio...

Re: Question about sound interfaces

I stand by what I said and my characterization of you. I think anyone who reads this thread can plainly see you were unnecessarily dismissive. Have a good day, sir. You should consider being less...

Re: Question about sound interfaces

Thanks for trivializing my issue. I've been doing this stuff for 50 years, probably longer than you've been alive. If I were as dismissive of others as you've been toward me, I wouldn't have had...

Re: Question about sound interfaces

Clocks? LOL! Not really applicable here.

The interfaces are consumer or prosumer-grade.

The interface I'm using for playback/output is an M-Audio M-Track device. It's about 3 years old,...

Question about sound interfaces

Hi,

I've been away for a while, not doing much multi-track production work lately. But this morning, I just upgraded my old Pro Tools installation and am now running 2020.5.0 on a Mac.

I have...

Re: STOP UPGRADING to Yosemite!

Meanwhile, I see that even Avid Media Composer is now qualified to run on Yosemite.

But Avid Pro Tools? Not so much.

Tick tock, guys.

Re: STOP UPGRADING to Yosemite!

For the record, I have not upgraded to Yosemite on my mission critical computer. Although to be fair, my mission critical Mac is still barely compatible with Pro Tools 11, as it's an old Core 2 Duo...

Re: STOP UPGRADING to Yosemite!

Hey, here's a thought: How 'bout Avid come with an update as soon as the new OS comes out? How 'bout that? I mean, most all software written for the Mac already has updates ready to download off...

Re: Anyone using Pro Tools 11 on an old Core 2 Duo Mac?

Well, as I just mentioned, I'm currently running 10.8.x Mountain Lion. But that's part of the issue. I need to upgrade to Mavericks. But I figured if I upgrade to Mavericks, I'll need to run Pro...

Re: Anyone using Pro Tools 11 on an old Core 2 Duo Mac?

Thanks to those who responded.

I'm not ready to buy a new Mac right now. 90 percent of the work I do is strictly voiceover, for which I really don't need Pro Tools. A simple waveform editor...

Anyone using Pro Tools 11 on an old Core 2 Duo Mac?

I know it's not officially supported. But before I go out and spend the money on a new Mac, I'm wondering if anyone is successfully running Pro Tools 11 on a 2008-vintage iMac. You know, the...

Anyone running PT11 on an older Core 2 Duo Mac?

All three of my Macs are vintage 2008-2009 with Core 2 Duo processors. (Yeah, I know, it's time to upgrade. But I'm holding off as long as I can.) I see on the compatibility charts, there's...

Re: PT 10 and Digi 003 not playing nice!

Avid tooted the horn quite loudly when Pro Tools 10.3.1 was released to make everyone aware that Pro Tools was now compatible with Mountain Lion.

What Avid didn't bother to mention at the time was...

Re: MBox mountain lion drivers not working

I spoke this morning with Avid Audio tech support concerning the DAE error -6001 that I was receiving (see other thread).

Here's the deal:

You're exactly right. The latest drivers for older...

After putting in a call to Avid Audio tech support this morning, I have learned that the DAE error I was getting is because the latest Digi Drivers for older...

DAE error -6001 was encountered

Just installed 10.3.1.

Before that I went through the whole procedure of uninstalling previous version of Pro Tools (clean uninstall) and upgrading OS to 10.8 Mountain Lion. (10.8.2 to be...

Re: Its Official... Mountain Lion will be released tomorrow...

What remains something of a mystery to me is how other software companies (and I mean a whole lot of them) can have updates to their software ready to go on the day of a new OS release. I mean,...

Re: PT 9 - So let me get this straight...

And oh, by the way Mr. Avid Audio Tech Support Guy, I didn't try to run all three installations with Pro Tools 8 WITHOUT purchasing a PT 8 upgrade on all three machines. You can look me up. I...

Re: PT 9 - So let me get this straight...

The Digi hardware device, be it a 002, 002 Rack, 003, 003 Rack, M-Box 2, etc. *was* the dongle. It was sold as such. "You need this hardware to run the software."

Now the paradigm has changed. ...

Re: PT 9 - So let me get this straight...

Why would I need to run three different Pro Tools rigs at once?

Well, I probably wouldn't. Except that there have been a few times when I've had someone over and we were both working on different...

Re: PT 9 - So let me get this straight...

I wasn't just using the hardware as a dongle. I was using it as the primary sound device when producing in Pro Tools.

So now they've rendered my investment moot?

Nice.

PT 9 - So let me get this straight...

RE: Pro Tools 9

So, let me get this straight:

Prior to Pro Tools 9, I could install Pro Tools software on various different computers, but I could only run it on the computer(s) to which I had...

Re: What's the diff? 8.0.3 beta and 8.0.3 public release?

Yes, I understand the public release is supported while the beta version of 8.0.3 was not supported. That's not what I was driving it.

I'm wondering if there was anything in the software itself...

What's the diff? 8.0.3 beta and 8.0.3 public release?

The question in the header pretty much sums up my question.

I downloaded and have been running the 8.0.3 "beta" release for some time, ever since it first became available to make Pro Tools 8 run...
