Well, I spoke too soon.

I switched back to NFS this morning, and received several -9093 and -9073 errors during playback. Then remembered that was the whole reason why I started exploring SMB...

Yeah, that is very interesting. As you alluded, it sounds like the big difference is Scale vs. Core. TrueNAS Core is based on FreeBSD, so maybe its handling of SMB is different?

Yes, word clock inputs to the TCO option card and is locked. Then card 1 is set to sync to the TCO, and card 2 is set to sync to card 1 on the internal cable (clock source sync in).

That is what I thought, too, but it's not behaving that way. Setting the MTRX in DADman to word clock source works as expected if I'm working on a 5.1 mix inside Pro Tools. But when I do an Atmos mix...

FIXED! I started thinking about the signal coming from the RMU, and noticed in DADman, there was a sync flag. I tried switching the MTRX sync source from internal to MADI, and the flag went away...
