ASC Form Broken

Hi Guys,

I am trying to use an ASC I just purchased.

When I enter it at avid.force.com/ASC and click Submit, nothing happens, the page just reloads.

Is the site down?

Thanks!

Re: PT9 and MOTO PCIe-424-based devices

What do you mean by "two devices daisy-chained"? Do you mean two MOTU interfaces plugged into the PCI-424 card? If so, that will work just fine. (You have to plug each interface directly into the...

Re: PT9 and MOTO PCIe-424-based devices

Except that PT9 will consistently crash if you select your PCI-424 CoreAudio device as the playback engine in PT and you have more than two interfaces plugged into the card.

Re: List your interface (non digi) capable of 32 sample buffers here!

It looks like MOTU's drivers have been capable of this for a while. I can set 32 sample buffer - otherwise the driver would simply not expose the 32-sample buffer size option to CoreAudio and I...

Re: Multiple Digi Interface use with PT9

I had a Digi 002 years ago on Windows XP and it hot-plugged just fine via FireWire. I also had an MBox 2 Mini and then an MBox 2 Micro on OS X that also hot-plugged just fine. And drivers corrupted...

Re: Multiple Digi Interface use with PT9

Why not? Both USB and FireFire are hot-pluggable.

Re: List your interface (non digi) capable of 32 sample buffers here!

I just tried, and sadly, no. I can in Cubase, Logic, and Live. (Hell, in the Adobe Audition beta I'm trying out now, I can even set it to 16 samples and it actually works.) Yet another Avid...

Re: List your interface (non digi) capable of 32 sample buffers here!

Go to the Core Audio device preferences in your host app and select it there. I use Cubase and can use 32 samples on all of my interfaces, as well as my aggregate device that totals 108 I/O.

Re: List your interface (non digi) capable of 32 sample buffers here!

You can mix and match up to four MOTU interface boxes to your liking for a total of 96 I/O.

It is very stable, though it depends largely on your machine, too. If your mixes get huge (lots of VIs...

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

Just to clarify:

I have a MOTU PCI-424 card with two 2408mk3 and one 24I/O boxes sitting on it, as well as an M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge.

Both are being clocked externally via BNC from the...

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

Looks like the problem here is not with device aggregation and word clock, but the fact that the Duet is seemingly unable to deliver stutter-free audio at anything below a 256 sample buffer?

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

My pleasure! Yes, bad clock will screw both inputs and outputs, so both playback and recording are affected. BTW, I've been using my aggregate device with 108 I/O for 2.5 years now with no problems...

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

I had the same thing happening in Cubase - I kept going to preferences and resetting the CoreAudio device, which worked for about 5 minutes, then it would get all screwy again. It was always the...

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

Yes - disable the "Resample" option or your word clock will drift out of phase between the aggregated interfaces and corrupt your audio!

Re: What does RESAMPLE mean in the Aggregate window?

I don't know what that option exactly does - I would assume it resamples audio from slave interfaces to match the sampling rate of the master interface - the one that's set as the clock source - in...

Re: Pro Tools 9 Crashes When Selecting Audio Interface

Glad to hear I'm not alone!

For me it was 48 I/O actually. I opened a case with both Avid and MOTU support, hopefully they'll fix it!

Re: What's the thinking behind capping I/O to 32?

Thank you! I make primarily electronic music (dance, downtempo, ambient) and those synths are my sonic palette!

Definitely give Cubase and/or Logic a shot - they're very powerful and mature...

Re: Pro Tools 9 Crashes When Selecting Audio Interface

You do know what CoreAudio is, right? It's a standard. With publicly available specifications.

If you're advertising to be compatible with CoreAudio, you better do your homework and make sure you...

Re: Pro Tools 9 Crashes When Selecting Audio Interface

The issue here is that Avid is selling something that clearly does not do what they advertise it to be supposed to do - work with *any* CoreAudio interface. It doesn't. Other DAW apps do just fine....

Re: What's the thinking behind capping I/O to 32?

Thanks for the good words! I think everyone should do their homework when putting their rig together - it pays off down the road ;)

The price difference between Digi and MOTU stuff comes from the...

Agreed - one should always pick the tools that do the job best for them. I was just presenting the other side of the coin. Cheers.

Re: What's the thinking behind capping I/O to 32?

The difference in Avid's case is that their feature limitations are so severe they make the baby versions of their software largely useless for many people. PT LE/MP up to version 8 was limited to 18...

Re: What's the thinking behind capping I/O to 32?

Here's my setup (trying to add it to my signature now):
