Re: Is 4 gig too little RAM?

I'm not sure about that. I'd be curious to know how much RAM "Activity Monitor" says Pro Tools is using. I think if you noticed any difference it is if you have other applications open while Pro...

Re: Lee Blaske SATA???

Hi Lee,
Do you mean slot #4? #1 is the AGP card. Isn't the 4th slot the faster slot of the PCI-X bus. Or is your G5 PCIe???

Re: SATA Hard Drive questions

Of course Lee and Jeremy are right. There is no necessity for using RAID-0 for ProTools sessions. And I know that back-up and potential loss is a definite issue. BUT in a perfect world--wouldn't...

Re: SATA Hard Drive questions

Hey Lee,
I'm going to go the eSATA route as well. What SATA drives are you using inside your new enclosure? What do you recommend?? Do you run these in a RAID configuration? I know DIGI doesn't...

Re: Logic 7.2!

Kind of makes you wonder how Apple could have tested ProTools compatibility sufficiently if Digi isn't even finished testing the stream manager. Seems like that would have to finish testing before...

Re: What soft synth 4 Hammond / EP

Another vote for B4 II. It's amazing. And while I always thought the old B4 sounded great, it was harder to get it to sit in the mix. The B4 II is a big improvement.

FWIW, I think East West...

Re: Anyone here doing midi over a local network?

I use MIDIoverLan to control softsynths and samplers on my PC from Logic on my Mac. Works great. I just have a Cat5e cable going from my G5 to my PCs gigabit ethernet port. Simple. the computers...

Re: Apple Remote Desktop

I use it and it works perfectly. I have a 15" powerbook with airport card and bring it into the iso booth when recording vocals or acoustic gtr. Also have my Piano mic'd upstairs (with headphones)...

Re: Logic 7.1 and Pro-Tools 7.0 compatibility

At first I thought it was encouraging that Digi posted an official note that said they were working on a fix with Apple.

But we...

Re: The exchange-to-PCIe pricelist is up now.

Can this be true?

Price to upgrade MixPlus system to HD2 Accel PCIe is the same as upgrading an HD2 system???

Meanwhile price to upgrade Mix3 system to HD3 Accel PCIe is $500 more than HD3...

Re: warning - G5 hardware failure - READ THIS!

Or how about since an HD Accel card cost about $5k, they guarantee it will work for 3 years. Seems fair to me.

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chips

I totally agree. Which is why this is a win/win for Apple. I just don't see how, if handled correctly, this could hurt Apple.

Re: IT\'S OFFICIAL: Apple is switching to X86 chips

From an article on maccentral.com. This...

Re: Will DigiDesign stay supporting Any/OS

The big question for me and other users is: will Digi continue (and possibly even improve) their limited support of 3rd party software like Logic and Digital Performer. It seems like they would be...

Re: DP 4.5 or Logic Pro 7 and Protoools HD

I recently made the jump to Logic Pro 7. I used DP for years. First with a Native system and then with a Mix Plus system. When I upgraded to HD I stopped using DP because they had for years let...

Re: Logic Pro 7/ Digi HD 192 I/O

Hey Chris,

I just started using Logic. Do you know why the manual and tutorials tell you to use an AUX for the ESB instead of audio input channels? I agree with you and think an audio input...

Re: Soft Synths-PT or Dedicated PC

You could also get a KVM switch (like the Belkin models) and use your existing keyboard, mouse, and computer monitor with the PC.
Make sure the model you choose supports the Mac as...

Re: ProTools with OSX-- Are we going backwards??

Maybe MT is just a really fast clicker???

Seriously though, I tried it on a session with about 20 audio tracks, tons of plug-ins, and RTAS softsynths. Everything Hid or Showed instantly. No...

Re: ProTools with OSX-- Are we going backwards??

Hey MT,
This post alone says to me that there is a problem with your system. I just tried it out on a couple different sessions. When I click the track hides pretty much instantly. I can't click...

Re: FX Teleport for Mac

THe other solution of course is for ProTools to start supporting Audio Units. What are the chances of that happening? Has there been any talk of AU support coming in ProTools?

Disappearing Menu items

I have noticed a strange bug in PT 6.7cs8. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.

Several menu items that have a hierarchical structure don't seem to be working. For example, in the edit...
