Yes the new machines really are a universe ahead but it isn't always demonstrable on the CPU meters.

BUT plenty of users are still on the 5,1 12 core. There are some newer plugins that just choke...

Frank is right, lets not call this drift. Sync Slop is the technical term :p

It should be very consistent though. What you describe is how PT acts without a Sync peripheral.

It was probably an arbitrary number chosen for convenience in development and sounded good to marketing.

Is your plan to go:

TDM > MCI > TDM > MacBook > back to TDM?

You can also consider USB interfaces not just Thunderbolt. MOTU 8D should do it although I don't know its current support on M1...

I wouldn't bother with an Artist Control. The touchscreens are not great and the little wheel isn't very useful.

Artist Mix plus a cheap tablet to run Avid Control would be the way to go. You...

Some files have Acid format metadata. Some just have a generic tempo tag embedded. They can both be dealt with. Whether or not they're "Acidized" is...

Yeah it's basically metadata like markers in the file along with pitch info. PT has not always been able to read it.

For the time being I'd suggest staying with the previous release. Mulligan would be more useful than any of the new MIDI stuff IMO.
