When setting up a new system for a client I had a chance to compare the Apogee DA16, Apogee AD8000 with output card, 888/24, and the 192.

All tests were at 24bit 44.1k. 1.Mixed in the box....

I have this exact setup and it works fine. The 882/20 converts at 20 bit, and the reference level is not the same between the units so you must account for that, but you should not have any problems.

If you are sending house sync (blackburst) from your video sync gen, and resolving the protools to the incoming blackburst, you will be fine. just be sure to set your smpte sync rates to be the same...

yes but...
Tracks over the limit of the mbox will not play back,(only the first 24 tracks) and any plugins that do not exist will be de-activated.

The 3124 most definitely has phantom power. Look for a small silver switch near the input for each channel on the back.
