Gentlemen, I have the same problem since I updated to 12.5.
The CPU works between 1 to 5% and suddenly goes to 100% and the error happens.
My gear is: i7 4790 16 Gb RAM ; Mobo Asus MArk I

I did what you said and the lights stopped blinking but no audio comes out of pro tools or other software that use avid asio driver

The lower buffer size for mbox pro is 64 .but the connection is fire wire.
in my digi 002 also comes at 64. So probably the digi 003 is 64
