OK folks,
it was really nerv-wrecking, but I finally tracked it down: it was my anti-virus software!!!! Wish I had thought of it before... It's a l w a y s good advice to disable any anti-virus...

this is what happens when i try to record audio with PT 12.5.2 on my WIN 10 laptop:
almost 99% of the times when I stop recording- the audio clip vanishes completely and also the cliplist...
