I stronhly recommend you go with x79 socket 2011 platform and a i7 38xx CPU.

The 2500K of socket 1155 might work ok with a p67 motherboard but stay away from motherboards with integrated GPU...

The FT02 is a fairly quiet case with great cooling. Its odd orientation and cooling is focused on gaming builds with hot video cards, so for these type of systems it is one of the most quiet options....

The Zotac GT430 is a good card for PT. It has dual DVI output, good if your using 2 monitors with a DVI inputs. There is no interaction or speed relation between your DDR3 1600 RAM and the GPU's on...

Thats the way most PT users I know have it setup.
Sound from PT should go to dedicated Monitors for mixing, yet the sound from the PC is often mastered loud and of various quality deserving its own...

Many Z68 boards have known issues. If anything go with a P67 board. Known to work are Intel DP67BG and Asus P67 Pro or abouve.

You'll need a dedicated audio drive. I only see one in your list.

Yup, trying to hot plug firewire is known to fry either PC interface or the device's or both.


You're not alone. This is the most popular 'line' and cause for lab repair of devices with FW...

You've got the right plugin. The initials dont match the name... go figure.

I don't know why its not working, however you're not missing anything. this plugin is probably the least effective...

The UD5 had known issues in the past with noises in DAW. I'd stay away. If you can't get your hands on a UD3R then you can try the Asus P6T.
