Re: Pro tools 2019 !

You're getting the satisfaction of knowing that your friends with HDX cards can pay for functionality you don't need to buy.

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Resurrecting an old thread because of a new saturator in town. True Iron, by Kazrog is definitely worth a close listen. I like what it's doing A LOT. :-)

McDSP NR 800 - Noise Reducer

Has anybody had a chance to try McDSP's new noise reduction plugin? I'm curious to hear your thoughts! I generally like their plugins, so I have high hopes.

Re: Electric car sfx

I did something similar a year or two ago on a pilot for ABC. I pitch shifted some turbines and centrifuges and mixed and matched to come up with something useable, as I recall. Ours was sort of a...

Re: Interface for 5.1 editing

Well, it won't be popular with the audiophile crowd, but for price and performance, you really can't beat the Behringer FCA610. It's class compliant, so no drivers needed, and has hardware control of...

Re: EDL - which software to open an edl

Any EDL that we can do anything with is just a text file and can be opened in your favorite text editor, with or without renaming it. If you can't open it, then it's some sort of proprietary binary...

Re: Help with Conform from Production poly wavs

Your editor should have provided you an embedded AAF with handles, or a referenced AAF with source media attached. I'm not a PT expert, but I was once lead to believe by the fine folks at AATranslate...

Re: Media Composer

You can use the same license on either OS. By simply deauthorizing on one machine, you can move to another. As to which works best...well, that's subject to debate. You'll find people who will...

Re: Tape plugin, what you guys using?

J37 for me, typically. But also in the arsenal are Wave Arts' Tube Saturator (vintage -- FREE now) and Nomad Factory's Cosmos, which does something very nice to spoken dialog in post.

Re: Far OT... Video edit software? What's in your wallet?

This is what I use, a used GTX680 flashed for Mac, and it works perfectly for Resolve. Don't need latest and greatest to use the editorial side of it.

On eBay...

Re: Far OT... Video edit software? What's in your wallet?

Geeze, bummer. Didn't even think of that.

Well, don't know much about it, but just found this:
https://www.cinema5d.com/media-100-nle-suite-for-mac-is-now-free/

And Lightworks is free too....

Re: Far OT... Video edit software? What's in your wallet?

I would get Black Magic Resolve. It's free and will do everything you could ever want. It's as simple or as complex as you wanna make it. The only thing is, you'll have to watch the OS system...

I'm hoping that Melda will get on the bandwagon, as I use their EQ's almost exclusively these days.

Re: iLok Cloud

Didn't read too much, but if it's similar to Waves' cloud license system, I'd be all for it. That system works well.

Re: Synchronize by waveform (like the Premiere Pro feature)

Media Composer now has sync to waveform too. If you could use that, I'd suggest it over PP, as importing AAFs from PP is troublesome.

Re: Synchronize by waveform (like the Premiere Pro feature)

No it's not a plugin; it's stand-alone. You'd have to export an aaf and then import the dailies and it creates a new aaf (synced to your reference) which you would then re-import back into Pro Tools....

Re: Synchronize by waveform (like the Premiere Pro feature)

I haven't tried it in Pro Tools, but have used Plural Eyes to syncronize dailies with camera footage in Media Composer. There's a free trial, I think.

Re: 5.1 speaker for sfx editing

I agree that for EDITING, you don't need to spend a fortune. I've worked on a ton of features and pilots and episodics where the effects were basically cut in a rented office space in some commercial...

Re: you can now vote for 2 Authorizations for your Pro Tools license

I would certainly be nice, so I wouldn't have to keep moving my dongle between my office at Warner Brothers and my home office.

Re: Saturation, Analog Warmth, etc. plugins

Wave Art's original Tube Saturator is pretty fantastically hard to beat. And it just so happens to be FREE now. It's hard on the CPU, but you won't find many plugs that can touch it's tube grit and...
