IIRC, Pro Tools takes exclusive control of the mbox driver when opened unless you untick the setting in the driver allowing this. If the faders won’t move, it’s because pro tools is open.

Yes, a de-esser is a dynamic EQ, but I would argue that to be considered a modern-day dynamic EQ, it would need to be able to do both upwards and downwards compression/expansion.

If they’re half speed at 44.1, doubling the sample rate will double the speed and pitch same as with tape. If you manually set to 22.05, you’ll be halving the already half speed. ie: dropping to 1/4...
