Re: mp3 Bounce unacceptable

I always bounce a 320 mp3 along with a wav. It sounds pretty darn good.

Re: Keeping plugins with versions of 2018?

There should be no plug-in compatibility issues with going from 2018.7 to 2018.12.

Re: Mac Pro 5.1 for PT 2018?

I use an upgraded Mac Pro 5,1 with Pro Tools 2018.12 MacOS 10.13.6 (see sig for full details). I have no issues whatsoever with this combo.

I would definitely look for dual processor 8 or 12 core...

Official Mojave support in 2019?

What do you all think?

Will Avid officially support Pro Tools 2019 on Mojave in 2019 BEFORE macOS 10.15.x is released?

Just bored today and wondering.

Re: Pro Tools Upgrade plan

I always buy my PT renewal from a retailer. It’s usually at least 20% off Avid’s price.

Re: So How is 2018.12 working for you ?

It changes depending on the number of players, the room, etc. We track in our own space whenever possible. In our studio, this is my basic setup:

1st and 2nd violins: Stereo Track - 2 mics on...

Re: So How is 2018.12 working for you ?

PT 2018.12 macOS 10.13.6 upgraded from PT 2018.10 macOS 10.13.3 on the home machine.

Several long days of mixing and no issues. CrashPlan and Time Machine backups are able to run in the background...

Re: Support for new Operating Systems

I see a few people running Mojave but since Avid doesn't officially support it, I can't afford to put it on my production machines. They must have a reason to continue to warn about installing...

Re: 2018.12 No new features?

FYI. I just spent a couple of hours tweaking two fairly large mixes I did over the past few days. 2018.10/macOS 10.13.3 vs. 2018.12/macOS 10.13.6. No issues but I wasn’t having any before while...

Re: 2018.12 No new features?

I never said I was happy paying the yearly fee. It’s quite expensive for an HDX system. But I do need ongoing os compatibility. That I have not been getting and would prefer avid concentrate on that...

Re: 2018.12 No new features?

I don't really need any new features. I'd like better compatibility with current versions of macOS, more stability and the speed and zippiness of Pro Tools 10.

Re: Support for new Operating Systems

Woo Hoo! After nearly a year of no supported macOS, 2018.12 is compatible with macOS 10.13.6 - only 5 months old.

I hoped that Avid had stopped working on last year's macOS and started working...

Re: 5.1 channel order

It's a mess and not just because of Avid.

I do a lot of 5.1 for network TV and film. I always deliver in six discrete mono files and ask the same to be supplied to me. That way no mistakes are...

Re: HDX 192 "-10" analog inputs - ok for use 'alternate +4 inputs ?

I'll be honest that I don't really know the answer to your question but it seems likely that the +4 and -10 inputs have some sort of hardware gain structure difference. The trim pots are common to...

Re: Video Card - Mac Pro High Sierra & Native

Definitely can use the optical bay power for the HDX card. I’ve since discovered that if you temporarily slide the power supply out, its very easy to get the power cable out of the optical bay to the...

Re: Video Card - Mac Pro High Sierra & Native

I'm running the power for my HDX card off of one of the unused SATA ports on my 2010 Mac Pro.

Re: Installing Pro Tools On Mojave

I don't remember it ever being this long. The highest approved MacOS (10.13.3) was released in January 2018.

It will be interesting if Avid goes over a year without supporting the MacOS.

Support for new Operating Systems

Well another .1 OS update has come and gone and no PT approved compatibility :(

Avid approval is always lagging but I don't recall ever getting this far behind. 10.13.4, 10.13.5, 10.13.6, 10.14.0,...
