Re: HD 192 bass-lite? Impedance mismatch?

I haven't used PT HD but I have used both of Esctacy's studios and have to say that it's not the sort of place one should be evaluating the sonics of any sort of gear.

Re: EXS24

You have to use Logic slaved to Protools.

Send MTC via the IAC buss from PT to Logic.

Set both programs to the same start time and tempo.

In logic Enable an DTDM instrument and insert an...

Re: How much should I charge

$15,000 is sort of the going rate for an indy flick though I have received much less then that when I was starting out. A good way to gauge is to see what sort of and how much music they are going...

Re: HD users-please post your reviews here.

Two questions. 1. Does working @96k improve the quality of internal mixing. 2. Do the plug in's sound better @ higher bandwiths.

Thanks

Re: Logic Users....Have You Ever Tried This ??

I started working on a song in logic tdm with the thought I would sequence and cut all the tracks in Logic and then move the files over to Protools. I didn't have that much in the way of plug-ins...

Re: Logic Users....Have You Ever Tried This ??

I think logic sounds better both in its TDM and mac av implementation. The TDM version of Logic just seems to cut better. The Mac version of logic sounds good to me as well though there's not really...

Re: WHY 96 k?????

96k is a big improvement in many ways

It sounds better (record a drum kit at 96k you'll never want to look back)

Crossfades are smoother sounding

Stereo Imaging is way better

Re: LOgic ESX24 + ESB tdm

Been there, tried it, couldn't get it to work but that doesn't mean it can't.

By the way the esx24 is the best thing since sliced bread.

Re: anyone using an isobox or isorax

As long as you're in a well air conditioned room an isobox will be fine. It's weakness is that it produces fairly concentrated heat from its fan exhast

Re: Some Misc./beginner Vox questions

If you're in possesion of a decent compresser definently use it going to disk. Like mics, different compressers and amounts of compression really help the sound of different singers. Do not de-ess...

Re: New Beta Dithered Mixer

I have to say I believe the hi res mixer sounds a bit better than the regular 24 bit mixer. Mixes reprinted through it seem to be clearer, have a bit more air and transient response.

Re: ProTools MIDI timing

I done many test regarding midi timing with protools and logic and the truth is "Midi Sucks". Logic with amt or serial via stealth port is a touch better than P.T. but still not all that great. Beat...

Re: USB Latency and Pro Tools midi

I would recommend the AMT-8 interface by Emagic. It seems to be the best of the USB inferfaces.

The Protools sequencer is fine, but if you pland on doing more complex programming i woud recommend...

Re: Sampler/Synth

The E4 Ultra Xt rocks, especially with the new EFX card. The sound library is fantastic, it has great filters, its easy to use and has a fairly quick midi response time. It doesn't replace having a...

Re: Say You Meet Some One......

The mackie pre's aren't that bad (it really depends on what sort of music you're doing) but if you feel the need for cooler mic pre/eq's for vocals/drums then i'd recommed the Dakings; the daking...

You can put a Stereo Aux input to monitor the out outs before you print. Sonically it sounds pretty much like what you put into it where as bouncing to disk seems to make things a bit fuzzier. Try ...

Re: Virus Plug-in

The Virus plug sounds good, perhaps a little sterile but you get a bunch of them on one chip so that makes up for it . The midi timing seems to be okay and the patches that come with it are great. A...

Just got PT 5 and it's cool except for the fact that logic timing starts going crazy after a bit. It works fine with 4.3 but 5.0 isn't happening. anybody got any ideas?
