Re: Avid delisted on NASDAQ

Not sure who that blast was directed at....

For disclosure and clarification, I live in the US, I do like AVID 'products', and the Profiles I use have a 'Digidesign' silkscreen.

As to AVID 'the...

Re: Why buy the S3L then the Venue systems?

I would recommend contacting your AVID Live Systems dealer(s) in your area. Any questions you have, I'm sure they would be glad to help you. You may even be able to schedule a demo to get a hands...

Re: Extend a digisnake cable

Correction on my suggestion #2, if you use the above mentioned coax to fiber converters, you will not want to put these in the 'middle' of your run. The coax outputs are 600mv p-p and the receive...

Re: Extend a digisnake cable

This is certainly an interesting project....

Here's a few options that likely won't get an official 'nod' from AVID:

1) Use Belden 1694 (RG6/U) or equivelent, build 4x (assuming one Stage...

Re: Digisnake for install

Adding to the above list of 'uses for CAT5e/6 cables'.....

From Prolight+Sound 2013, RME launches new product with media conversion to and from twisted pair on RJ45's. MADI, AES3, and ADAT over...

Re: Digisnake for install

Good, Fast, Cheap.....pick two

Good - high quality, high build quality, solid design
Fast - high performance, (may have wide bandwidth and high speed, resulting in longer cable length)
Cheap -...

Re: Digisnake for install

The 'secret sauce' is behind the metalwork, however I can talk about the cable in more detail.

up to 50' - Any standard CAT5e or CAT6 cable construction, 4 pair UTP or STP, solid BC or stranded,...

Re: Digisnake for install

Here is an alternate snake I have made using 2 x CAT6 F/UTP for one of our touring Profiles. It has also been tested on a theater's installed CAT5e lines as well.....

Re: SC48 Password Protection

Easy....Just write 'M7' on the case lid;), or you *may* be able to boot into the BIOS by pressing the F10 key during boot...in BIOS it may be possible to temporarily disable the HDD...save and exit.

Re: Extending SC48 remote cabling

For C5e/C6 cable plants, you could place an AVB enabled switch such as a LabX Titanium 411 in between you max cable segments. For example 1 switch would net a max 200m.

For longer hauls, use...

Re: AVB Protocol

The future for AVB deployments is wide open. As to your theoretical recording set-up, I doubt that AVID will ever support any sort of merging of any other endpoint hardware on the AVB based Stage 48...

Re: Slaving desks

Perhaps the CAN Bus connector on the rear of the surface could be used to link the 2 systems together.....Or maybe this CAN Bus connector is used only by AVID as a service port.

Re: DigiSnake over Fiber

I am not speaking for AVID or RME on this......here are some things to consider:

The MADI coax output circuit on the RME device is a standard 600mVp-p (terminated 75ohm) driver, and the MADI coax...

Re: BNC Snakes

I've been checking out the specs on the 75ohm coax Digi recommends, but this only tells half the story. No CAT5e/6 currently has a bandwidth of over 1.5Ghz, in fact the fastest in this class is...
